Krupi Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 It's war thunder so calling it a sim is pushing it a bit
ST_ami7b5 Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Yes, but you can enjoy the scennery at 60 FPS while waiting for BoS
Krupi Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 I play COD at 60fps with a great landscape, superior cockpit, superior damage model and at times over 80 players sooo.... War Thunder I find lacking in comparison on pretty much every single way imaginable, well apart from the popping trees buildings and a lack of decent AA... War Thunder looks nice but that's the only box it ticks for me the feeling of flight just is not there.
Kongo-Otto Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 (edited) After receiving my new Fleet Boat i left USS Trigger and boarded on USS Capitaine (SS-336). I'm hoping to find some worthy tragets as the Freighters almost vanished from the seas. On Sea to Target Area East China Sea. USS Capitaine on its first Patrol, April 8 1945 I'm the Galloping Ghost of the Japanese Coast, You don't hear of me or my crew- But just ask any man off the coast of Japan If he knows of the Trigger Maru. I look sleek and slender alongside my tender, With others like me at my side. But we'll tell you a story of battle and glory, As enemy waters we ride. I've been stuck on a rock, felt the depth charges' shock, Been north to a place called Attu. And I've sunk me two freighters atop the equator- Hot work, but the sea was cold blue. I've cruised close inshore and carried the war To the Empire island Honshu; While they wired Yokohama I could see Fujiyama, So I stayed - to admire the view. When we rigged to run silently, deeply I dived, And within me the heat was terrific- My men pouring with sweat, silent and yet Cursed me and the whole dammed Pacific. Then destroyers came sounding and depth charges pounding; My submarine crew took the test. For in that far-off land there are no friends on hand To answer a call of distress. I was blasted and shaken - some damage I've taken; My hull bleeds and pipe lines do, too. I've come in from out there for machinery repair, And a rest for me and my crew. I got by on cool nerve and in silence I served, Though I took some hard knocks in return- One propeller shaft sprung and my battery's done- But the enemy ships I saw burn! I'm the Galloping Ghost of the Japanese coast, you don't hear of me or my crew- But just ask any man off the coast of Japan If he knows of the Trigger Maru. Edited January 8, 2013 by Kongo-Otto

War Thunder looks nice but that's the only box it ticks for me the feeling of flight just is not there. It's still beta and will be for quite a time yet. Just few planes have their FMs nearly finished already. I have 75 flyable planes ATM and some of them fly quite nicely. Playing MP 'historical battles' while waiting for BoS. (A.T.M. there is 837 players in 25 historical battles, 8800 players in 271 'arcade battles' and 439 players in 15 'full real' battles on RU server) I have CloD also, fly it from time to time, but the scennery is much better in WT IMHO. Best I have seen so far... I am afraid it will be hard for me to get used to anything less perfect (still talking about scennery)... WT is just a good way to relax for me. Edit: sorry for off-topic. Better return to screenshots. Edited January 8, 2013 by Rinzai

Krupi Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 (edited) Wiseblood any chance you could post your specs and settings? Your pics look much better than mine, I think its the contrast you as use the colours are much more vibrant. Edited January 14, 2013 by JG52Krupi
wiseblood Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 (edited) I actually lost my really nice settings for sweetfx a week or so ago and I've been taking stabs at it trying to get 'em back I use (one of) SuperVCAA4v12, 4x4, or 2x2+4xOGMS in nvidia inspector with -0.500/-1.000 lodbias set. Really just a matter of how much I'm prepared to tollerate FPS wise - 4x4 is really only something you want to go to some way away from the ground (at least on my fairly average PC), SuperVCAA tends to produce a somewhat softer image better for night/cloudy shots, etc, 2x2+4 is a nice speed/quality compromise but can sometimes end up with small artifacts. PostFX off in ROFLauncher. Following only set in sweetfx - #define USE_LUMASHARPEN 1 #define sharp_strength 2.00 #define sharp_clamp 0.04 #define pattern 1 #define offset_bias 1.00 #define show_sharpen 0 #define USE_TECHNICOLOR 1 #define TechniAmount 0.20 #define TechniPower 8.00 #define redNegativeAmount 0.50 #define greenNegativeAmount 0.80 #define blueNegativeAmount 0.50 #define USE_VIBRANCE 1 #define Vibrance 0.40 #define USE_CURVES 1 #define Curves_contrast 0.30 #define Curves_formula 4 Which is very subtle by itself and is mainly useful for getting a bit more useful lifetime out of the magic hour in either direction (it kills a lot of the haze and murk it throws around at very early/late time of day). Oh and the one essential mod - something to kill the single most hideous lens flare effect ever seen in a video game. Edited January 14, 2013 by wiseblood
MiGCap Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 Very fine pics, but could we agree to not more than three screenies per post, please? The scrolling is awful and spoils the thread!

So they either end up in the same post or I sit here for an hour reposting/editing them out of posts waiting for the post amalgamation timeout to expire.

LizLemon Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 This has been edited in photoshop, but most of the changes could be done with sweetfx. I'm still playing around with the colors a bit and this is meant to represent vintage film.
=IRFC=Jorri Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 For the people who have 3DVision: Death of a Mariner Felixstowe over Channel Flying Boat
EAF_Paf Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Jasta 2, September 1916 Just took off to a defensive patrol, in the background is Lagnicourt with our airfield. In Formation climbing above french fields. We see some lower flying aircraft dropping bombs when we've been attacked by an outnumbering enemy from above. But our new Albatros D.II are the better machines and we manage to turn the battle Blumenau makes the mistake and dives after fleeing Airco, soon he is in a turning fight with 2 enemies and touches a treetop. He is loosing control in killed on impact. We abandon the fight and fly home claiming 4 enemies down but loosing Blumenau.
AndyJWest Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 A rare moment of success on the RoF Syndicate server, as I bounce =FI=Rambo. I'm up at 3,000 m or so over the lines in a Fokker D.VIIF, anxiously scanning the skies. What's this? Flak over Hun territory can only mean one thing - and I've got the height advantage. It's Rambo, in his Spad 13, and he doesn't seem to have seen me. I swing in behind, still apparently unseen... ...And let him have it. At last, he reacts... ...but too late. I've got him. Injured, leaking fuel, and with a smoking engine, Rambo dives away. I decide not to try to follow, and leave him to crash land somewhere in Entente territory.
AndyJWest Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Nice pony you've got there Krupi. Not much chance of meeting any opposition though...
Krupi Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 (edited) Well apart from the butcherbird? Yeah, they have announced the DCS: Fw 190 Good times are here at last CEM and realistic Flight Models, plus a new landscape engine Edited February 6, 2013 by JG52Krupi
