II./JG27_Rich Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 Hi guys, I am a filmmaker, here is my film, Angel of the Skies, about a South African pilot who flew for the Royal Air Force. Very small indie budget, did all the CGI myself in my room. What you guys think? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3am9oxF8zk OOOO that looks good Crash. I must admit those SS are behaving properly. If it was normal wermacht they probably would have enough brains to capture them and take them to interegation. The only thing I saw that was wrong was the 109 Es They are a littl old for the time. I forgot about an English series that was excellent probably the best ever on anything about WWII Called "Secret Army" All about the Belgian underground and the Luftwaffe officers trying to catch them
SPRCrash_Nemesis Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 (edited) Thanks guys. It was a long road, but worth it. Yes, Tinus le Roux came on set for two days to help out with some wardrobe. He filmed some of the behind the scenes. He's a great guy. I love his CLOD videos. Really great stuff. Appreciate the kind words. Edited November 15, 2013 by SPRCrash_Nemesis

Blooddawn1942 Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 Just watched the trailer...man...total bollocks. Looks like a Videogame. Not to mention the hundreds of fighters attacking at the end of the trailer. If every bombingraid of the 8th Airforce had ended like this, we would had blown them into oblivion. Ridiculous. I prefer stuff like Memphis Belle, Battle of Britain, Tora Tora Tora or The Battle of Midway. You know. The good old stuff with the correct hardware, not those silly digital aircraft... Sorry if anything here allready has been said. Didn´t read through the thread, just watched the trailer and wanted to comment this bullshit.
Blooddawn1942 Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 Here is a bargan basement film called "Fortress" The CGI here doesn't look bad and the 109s look great! Great camouflage and dimentions. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8y83rT19jFA Thats it. Much more authentic after all what I´ve read...
II./JG27_Rich Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 Fortess is a little out of the norm in a good way because instead of the typical they are stationed in North Africa
II./JG27_Rich Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 In my opinion, this little movie gives me more thrills than anything Holywood has done about WWII fighter pilots
GOAT-ACEOFACES Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 Not to mention the hundreds of fighters attacking at the end of the trailer. Yeah, when I saw that it was clear that those who made this WWII movie are not basing it on reality, but instead on some WWII Quake mod form of history

A couple of the scenes look a little overacted, but apart from that I really like the look of this. Sadly, it puts the Mighty Eighth video to shame..well done. Cheers, MP 1
ATAG_Slipstream Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 WOW! Thats more like it! Sokol1 Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 For some reason new cinema school relies too much on CGI where as radio controls could make the scenes way better in some situations. Seems that the rule for movie makers is: for air combat use the same action style of Star Wars. An is not "Hollywood", recently I watch a Russian movie about Brest fortress, and Bf.109, Skuka's fly like Tie Fighters... 1
II./JG27_Rich Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 All they have to do is go on youtube and watch some old German news reels
Feathered_IV Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 Well being a huge Luftwaffe fighter pilot fan and The Battle Of Britain being the only film that really depicted them properly it's been a real dry spell since 1969. You see Adolf Galland in the cedits as an advisor I'm sure that's one of the reasons.. Yes indeed. If you have the very good fortune to find a copy of Leonard Mosely's book on the making of the film (a damn good read it is too) there is a chapter on Galland's blistering intervention, and how the script was rewritten after he sent a soon to be notorious letter to the director, describing what would be the most kitsch and corny storyline imaginable (the director was stunned, as it was precisely what he was intending to do). The script got binned and was written again. Many will recall Robert Shaw's excellent performance as the bad tempered "Skipper". Originally his character was a caring, sharing squadron leader. All wringing his hands and worried about the feelings of his chaps. Shaw said no freaking way and wrote the character and his dialogue himself. And than God he did. 1
