6./ZG26_Loke Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Since this sim is build on the same game engine as RoF. Then it should be possible to add photo recon missions as an option. Just as in WW1, photo recon was used through the entire war, and was very important.
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Han said last week that recce will be available next year, when exactly is unclear. 1
TP_Jacko Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 How does this work in the game. Does a pilot fly to a location take a screen print and fly home
6./ZG26_Loke Posted December 20, 2015 Author Posted December 20, 2015 Sounds great Lucas :-). In RoF it is preformed with a camera icon which appears in left cornor when over area one shall photograph. Hope it will be made more smart in BoS/M.
Feathered_IV Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 I was really excited for photo recon missions in RoF, but was disappointed with the strange and gamey way they were implemented. I hope they improve the mechanics of it next time round.
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 I assume there should be non-photographic reconnaissance missions too since that was one of the most predominant tasks performed by Soviet pilots back then (fly over the front, find enemy or friendly unit, mark it on the map and make a run for it). For example, Pokryshkin's first 354 missions included 202 recce flights (opposed to 37 escorting, 36 patrols, 17 ground cover and 62 ground-attack missions). It's an essential element to the VVS side since it didn't employ dedicated recce aircraft on the scale the Luftwaffe did.
