JGr2/J5_W0LF- Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 (edited) Hey Guys I did all of our squadron's skins and for the last few weeks this one pilot is having an issue. He has steam game and the rest of us have the downloaded game install. We all see our own skins and we can't see his skin. He states that on his end he can see his own skin but not our skins. I think the issue lays in the steam version of the game. Can someone help us out with this. I don't get it. Below is a screen shot of my end with the pilot in question circled. Please help us figure this problem out guys its driving us nuts....Thanks for any help you can send our way! Edited December 19, 2015 by 4./JG53_Badger
SOLIDKREATE Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 (edited) The name is most likely too long. This happened to me once. Try something like "Badger_CO" or if it is a regular pilot "Joeschmoe_27" It could also be that you don't have his skin in your folder or your other team mates. BlackHellHound1 Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 (edited) Heey mate, Sounds like a simple problem to me. Just go through these points and it will probably fixed. The steam version should not be the problem. I have the steam version and I am not having any issues with my friends who don't have the steam version. Make sure he has all the skins downloaded. Check if he has all the skins located in the right folder. (Steam\SteamApps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\graphics\skins\Bf109F4) All the names of the skins must be unchanged! To me it sounds like he changed the names of the skins although I am not sure about this. I hoped this will fix the problem. BlackHellHound1 Edited December 19, 2015 by =[Coffin]=BlackHellHound1
JGr2/J5_W0LF- Posted December 19, 2015 Author Posted December 19, 2015 (edited) OK I'll find that out. I don't think the name of the files are to long cause everyone else has them installed and we see them fine. I will find out if he changed his file name.though. Ill let you know what I find out guys thanks for your insight! Spektre I thought that his files were missing or not converted but they are there and they are DDS files. I think he may have changed his file name. That's the only logical explanation I can see. Edited December 19, 2015 by 4./JG53_Badger
TP_Jacko Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 The file names MUST be exactly the same. If he has the files but can't see yours then its odd. To state the obvious he has to have the full set installed to see everyone's skin.
SOLIDKREATE Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Also make sure it was save as a .DDS too.
JGr2/J5_W0LF- Posted December 20, 2015 Author Posted December 20, 2015 I spoke to the pilot in question he stated that he did not change the files names and that he did install them to the correct directory in his steam folder. All of the files that I have in the zipped folder that belong to him are in fact dds. files. I don't understand why myself and others can see each others skins but we don't see his.
TP_Jacko Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 I can't find any other posts like this I am suspecting operator error . Maybe he should delete them and then re-download the zip file and manually place them in the folder
JGr2/J5_W0LF- Posted December 23, 2015 Author Posted December 23, 2015 (edited) I found out what it was. Steam doesn't like any special characters in the file names. I took all of the files and renamed them without special characters and BAM they work now...Go figure Thanks guys for all of your input! Edited December 23, 2015 by 4./JG53_Badger
