Jason_Williams Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 To all those who will be seeing Star Wars tonight, tomorrow and over the weekend. Jason 2
No601_Swallow Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Saw it (self-indulgent 11am showing in London). 1) Reminds me why I want always to be a fighter pilot. 2) I gotta see it again tomorrow. Dadgummit!
Feathered_IV Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 I wonder what George will think of it.
Jason_Williams Posted December 18, 2015 Author Posted December 18, 2015 I did the marathon. All 7 movies in a day. Started at 1am and I just got home. Was serious Star Wars overload, BUT I loved the new movie. I wish I was as talented as J.J. Abrams. He's managed to re-launch the Star Wars universe in a great way. The acting was top notch I thought and the X-Wing battles are awesome in this one. I also saw it in 3D. Looked really cool! Jason 1
Finkeren Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 (edited) Going tonight. Looking forward to it without any anxiety. Unlike many others, I don't take SW particularly serious, it's just engrossing campy entertainment on an epic scale, so nothing can really "spoil" this movie, other than it simply being boring (which is kind of what went wrong with the prequels) Btw: I didn't watch any of the original trilogy prior to this. What I did as preparation was watching the Star Wars Holiday Special and a Youtube compilation of all the scenes with Jar Jar Binks from the prequels. Just to remind myself, that there is really nothing this film can ruin that hasn't already been stomped into the ground, it's corpse sodomized with a big purple lightsaber. Mags Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Going to the movies with my son soon. Will be great!
JGr2/J5_W0LF- Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 (edited) Saw it tonight in 3D and it was awesome. Im not giving anything away but I see more movies coming forsure! Being that Im a member of the 501st I couldnt wait! Edited December 18, 2015 by 4./JG53_Badger 1
Jason_Williams Posted December 18, 2015 Author Posted December 18, 2015 Very cool Badger! Love the speeder bike look. Jason
csThor Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Wish you guys a night of fun. Being an old "extended universe" fan I can't generate any excitement about this "Disneyfied Star Wars". Wiping out pretty much 3 decades of stories at the stroke of a pencil is a step too far for me. I mean, no more Kettch jokes? Come on!
Blooddawn1942 Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 I'm looking forward to this. Been a Star Wars fan since nearly thirty years, I'm for sure very excited! But I'll have to wait until Christmas is over, to much to care about these days. When all is calmed down a bit me and my two sons will have a good time at the cinema!
150GCT_Veltro Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 In! I will go this week i hope. I can't wait!
Ace_Pilto Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 (edited) Sorry but... I have other plans. (I will be watching Star Wars tho ) Edited December 18, 2015 by JimmyBlonde
Trooper117 Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 This thread is tempting me to dig out my stormtrooper uniform from my loft... Haven't had a case to wear it in a few years now!
Finkeren Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 You're a little short for a stormtrooper...
Feathered_IV Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Sorry but... Me too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRVD32rnzOw

Charlo-VR Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 My 72 year old mom called me last night to brag she had just seen it and would see it again. Because of my schedule my tickets are for a showing on 12/27. Patience I need.

Haven't had a case to wear it in a few years now! Amazing, i exaggeratedly love this armour since i was 8 years old, still the best one (Stormtrooper) ever. The new one is however very good. 6./ZG26_Custard Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Tonight for me. As for "Lucas the Hut" I hope he has kept his grubby fingers well away from any real involvement from this and further projects. He ruined it all for me with the truly appalling prequels. I have tried to blot them from memory and I wish we could erase them from cinema history.
Trooper117 Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 For me, they have ruined the menacing outfit of the classic stormtrooper... in the pic above just look at the latest helmet. It just looks like a full face motorcycle helmet... Pah!

It was perfect, too much perfect. So, they could have taken the old one, but personally i prefer have the original trooper only in the original Star Wars....just to preserve its remembering in the best movie ever. The new helmet is a bit too modern may be, but in the movie it looks good enough for me. Edited December 18, 2015 by 150GCT_Veltro
Reflected Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Anyone posting any spoilers deserves a ban for life, just saying!
StG77_Kondor Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 (edited) Saw it last night. Came in with serious doubts. Since I'm in my 30s, I grew up watching the originals on VHS so many times, I damaged all three tapes. This also means I was absolutely let down so hard by Episode I and the prequels that my expectations were that low. I have to admit I was surprised. Exceeded all expectations. The hype is real. And I'll go as far as saying it's the third best Star Wars movie. Better than ROTJ. There. I said it. Edited December 18, 2015 by StG77_Kondor
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 (edited) Don't know, those helmets look too much like Joker face to me. Don't like it honestly. Also, most things presented in the old trilogy had technical sense. Don't know why sby now, or in future, should find it usefull to design a helmet with "teardrop" glass instaed of armour. Agree with Reflected Edited December 18, 2015 by Stab/JG26_5tuka
Picchio Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Saw it two days ago! I can't agree really with Kondor, but I'm still going again on Monday night to watch it in its original language because I dislike dubbed movies and because I need Star Wars.
=CFC=Conky Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 (edited) Hello all, Saw it yesterday and I have to say, Abrams has done a masterful job of rebooting the story; it's much truer to the spirit of the first three films, and there are some pretty funny bits/dialogue as well. Pew! Pew! =CFC=Conky Edited December 18, 2015 by CFC_Conky
Finkeren Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Well, I just got home from seeing it in IMax 3D (well done, low key 3D btw) Mission accomplished I guess. It definately is a SW movie at heart and the look, pacing humour and epicness is all spot on. The characters are likable and fit well with each other and the storyline (thumbs up for increased diversity) and the action looks stunning (for the first time in SW history, the lightsaber duels actually lok a bit like real sword fights) I have only a few minor complaints (CGI characters not quite looking the part, way too many SW inside jokes etc.) and one big: It's really not terribly inventive or creative. I couldn't find a single plot element that weren't either recycled from the original trilogy or very obviously lifted from other popular movies. It's a good start, but for the next movie I really wanna see Abrams creative genious at work.
johncage Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 jj abrams outside of cgi cinematography, has a terrible track record. also the agenda pushing in on full force apparently. lol abrams has never been good. people keep pushing him as some kind of guru or directing genius.
Feathered_IV Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 (edited) My only question, are the Empire baddies [Edited], or do they keep our present day topics out of it? Yes... let's keep present day topics out of it shall we... Edited December 19, 2015 by Bearcat
BraveSirRobin Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 My only question, are the Empire baddies depicted as thinly disguised Islamic hordes wreaking terror on the good old white bread rebels, or do they keep our present day topics out of it? I'd say that it would be tough to make the empire baddies any whiter.
Jason_Williams Posted December 19, 2015 Author Posted December 19, 2015 Ok well this was just a fun post. No need for politics. Everyone have fun seeing Star Wars. Jason
