HeavyCavalrySgt Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 What games from the past would you like to see redone with modern technology - hopefully preserving the original feel? I would love to see the X-Wing / TIE Fighter series redone; I really enjoyed those, and I won't miss having to struggle with DOS to get the things to run. I also would like to see a recreation of Covert Action. Have you been pleased by any remakes? I like the new Pirates! pretty well. 1
Cybermat47 Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 The best remake I've ever played would be Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary. It's the original Halo game's engine, but with updated graphics. Really fun to play.
Creepermoss Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 I'd want to see the original SOCOM remade. Brutally hard, no silly jump button, AI that would make you cry, such a wonderful game.
Matt Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 The only good remakes i've seen so far, are the Monkey Island 1 and 2 remakes. They managed to keep the charm of the original games. But i would rather see sequels, not just remakes with improved graphics or sounds. Games that seriously need some sort of revival imho: Outcast Warcraft (RTS, i read they are actually working on HD versions of the first two games) Jagged Alliance 2 And of course many old and good Star Wars games like X-Wing, Tie-Fighter, Knights of the old Republic (the MMO "sequel" doesn't count for me), Dark Forces/Jedi Knight etc. I would've also mentioned the Thief series, but i'm rather waiting what they are brewing up now (i'm expecting the worst to be honest).
Mysticpuma Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 (edited) The very first "Driver" which was just pure fun. With new graphics it would be great fun and Beautiful "Driver San Francisco" came close, but not near enough, it just seemed like the first had great physics, simple but fun missions and some nice touches like the unlockable Gran Turino with red paint work and White "Starsky and Hutch" stripe The only other game is the first ever Tombraider. I don't know what Tombraider anniversary was like, but the original remade completely with new graphics, would be beautiful. The underwater sections, the Sphinx and so many other sections....that would be awesome Completely agree about Thief though, at-least the first two games. Both were ground breaking and also led to many spin-offs including Splinter Cell which took mch from the stealth systems of Thief. I too agree though that although the new Thief looks beautiful, initial testing doesn't seem to give positive feedback that it retains the crafting of the original series? Time will tell though:) Cheers, MP Edited November 14, 2013 by Mysticpuma
=LD=Hethwill Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Tie Fighter / X Wing, sure why not. B-17 Flying Fortress. Loom ( probably one of the best story telling game ever in the industry... ) Bird of Prey ( the NATO vs Warsaw Pact BoP ) John Tiller's Battleground Series - ACW and Napoleonics ( using a more visual intense graphics engine ) Hidden & Dangerous - was a great great game
Matt Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Loom ( probably one of the best story telling game ever in the industry... ) I played it again last year. I think it did age surprisingly well. Still very enjoyable, good music, interesting story and unique gameplay. Maybe something for a high-res remake.
SYN_Jedders Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Star Trek voyager: Elite force.....please oh please oh please... 1

HeavyCavalrySgt Posted November 14, 2013 Author Posted November 14, 2013 I never should have left off B-17 from my list. Gunship and F-19 both used a lot of hours in my teenage years. I really enjoyed Elite Forces too. I just ran across my Hidden and Dangerous 3 CD -- I need to fire that up again sometime. I wouldn't mind seeing another version of Starfleet Command - that combination of tactics and strategy was great, but there was always a feeling of playing in a vaccuum (lol).

Blooddawn1942 Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 X-Wing would be absolutely fantastic. I loved this series. But I guess it will never be revived. For the sake of good memories and old times I would like to see Cinemawares Wings recreated! there was a kickstarter campaign which failed. What a pity...
EAF_Paf Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 (edited) Definitely second Jagged Alliance 2 and Dungeon Keeper! These were fun-days! The character-descriptions were gold Edited November 15, 2013 by EAF_Paf
Marcomies Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 1. Crimson Skies remade with modern graphics and flight/damage modeling somewhere around the War Thunder arcade/historical battle level. 2. Independence War (I-War) with modern graphics and damage model 3. X-Wing/TIE fighter series with modern graphics and damage model. 2
HsTAcS Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 I would like to see a remake of Av8B Harrier Jump Jet. Meany hours playing that game. That was way back in the days of old.

Time will tell though:) Cheers, MP Core was originally set to do the Tenth Anniversary of Tomb Raider. This was the unfinished trailer that was 'unofficially released' before Crystal Dynamics took over development of what was finally released. Crystal's version was okay, but a pale experience compared to the original. Many of the locations were truncated or omitted. There were a few moments in Egypt that brought a good old smile to my face. Midas' Palace was completely ruined. It was my favorite level. The Core game would have been more accurate and more representative of the old game. If you're familiar with TR1 you probably have no problem identifying the areas depicted in the video. I'd like to see Deus Ex remade. The Legacy of Kain had a deep story line that I'd like to see updated. The original was a top down PS1 release that set the tone and back story of all that transpired in the following three iterations. They also need to finish the story - thus release another game. Feathered_IV Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Difficult call. Some good ones suggested already. A few others: Dark Forces. Really enjoyed that one back in the day. Panzer Elite, or similar G-Police. A PSX title with a good story and plenty of style.
