I am thinking about upgrading my system.

Currently i have an I7 4820K on a ASUS Sabertooth X79 Mainboard.

I am thinking to upgrade to these components:

Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Gaming 7 Mainboard
Intel Core i7-6700K CPU
Samsung SSD 950 Pro 512GB M.2 SSD HDD
G.Skill RipJaws V schwarz DIMM Kit 32GB, DDR4-3200

My Graphicscard currently is a 980 TI. So there is no need to upgrade.

BOS is currently the game that i play the most so its important it runs very well with the new rig.

What do you think?

I don't think that replacing i7 4820k with 6700k will be real upgrade. If you go for that, BoS will run well with it (it does with my system i5 6600k @4,3GHz and GTX 980), but I would assume that your current rig runs BoS also very well?

Zami upgraded to a Skylake a couple of months ago i believe. I bought a 4790K because in the Netherlands the Skylakes are difficult the get. All in all i'm a little dissapointed by the performance i'm getting. Flying alone with everything on ultra it's fine. But as soon as the AI kicks in it drops massively...

It runs OK. Many planes in close proximity and close to the ground leads to stuttering.

I was also thinking of maybe just adding a second 980 TI. Would be around the same moneyinvestment.

Thinking out loud here.

Maybe the second 980TI is even the better decision since the Oclus/HTC vive are close and with that the GPU power becomes even more important.

hmmmmmmmmm.:)

If the 4820K is not overclocked, a decent closed loop watercooler and good overclock will bring you best results

More than 16GB ram will have little benefit for BoS/BoM

With two GTX980Ti 4820k will be bottleneck trying to feed both GPU's and cope with BoS high CPU compute cycle

Some people have experienced X99 platform giving  better performance for SLi with big GPU's vs' skylake series (not direct BoS experience)

Thanks guys.

I think ill just et a second 980 TI and headchop my CPU, put better thermal grease under there and overclock it a little more.
