Tank usage in IL2 Bos

I tried tanks few times and they seemed fine. The mission was such that you could see enemy positions on map. I'll use them again when there is better mission for them.

Dont forget there are also some nice SP missions around which you can play any way you want.

It's about 5% tanks, 95% planes for me. I like how they are implemented and drive them from time to time, but I'm obviously more interested in planes.

There is another angle to tank usage in BoS....

 

Even if i never actually controlled one again I feel the inclusion of player controlled vehicles adds a great new variety to MP, much the same that MP is more enjoyable when flying because of human adversaries compared to scripted AI

 

It is even more relevant on Eastern front where Soviet Airforce doctrine was tactical support for ground war and Luftwaffe reaction to that, as well as their own tactical use

Tanks actually made me to play MP. Mainly still SP campaigns and missions but still popping in MP every now and then to shoot some tanks. It`s great fun even in normal server with icons on. I even took a Bf-110 out couple of times to bomb enemy tanks. 

Except if you just happen to spawn in a Panzer when that one and same guy has made his usual drive in T-34 around the fighting to the rear area of the spawn point. There he pops everyone at close range on a second they spawn. Kids 

 

Hopefully we get some more of those excellent SP missions too. They were great fun too!

It's horrid when a T34 does do that because the panzers have such a hard time penetrating a T34 let alone turning there gun fasst enough to  kill it

Yeah, it`s quite sad actually that someone can get satisfaction from that. Makes great statistics though

I guess I'd like an option between 2 and 3. Right now because they're new I'm doing more ground action than flying but I'm sure that will even out. Still, it has been a great deal of fun as a change of pace and it's definitely added to my enjoyment of the sim.

To me, actually not bad... needs improvement certainly, but not a bad start. with full interior modeling, 6DOF, damage model, etc. etc. etc. tank vs infantry combat, fighting in Stalingrad, Tanks might draw in a good amount of people.

The tank sim side of the game needs a ton of work, but I have to confess, that's why I bought BoS.  I love WWII tanks and haven't seen a good tank game in a long while.  I am hoping that they will add the kind of details it needs (access to the map would be nice).  

 

I got on today in an MP match for the first time in a tank (I can't fly to save my life, but I am working on it).
