Azdack Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Hi thanks for this nice tool PWCG; i'm a newbie using it. As others as readen on this site I have no pilot in cockpit or under parachute by bailing out. Question : I have access in the game to Il16 and P40 but not in PWCG; are they still to come or do I have to configure something to fly them in PWCG? Thanks in advance for the answers.
PatrickAWlson Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Working on incorporating BoM planes into BoS. Add planes historically present to historical battle timelines. This will bring in new planes but still allow a reasonably historically accurate representation of Stalingrad (more accurate than without the planes). Extend timelines front and back to allow a campaign to stretch from 1941 into 1943. This is obviously non-historical because we all know that combat around Stalingrad did not last from 1941 to 1943. However, the plane match ups will be accurate per timeline. This will allow maximum use of all planes in the plane set. If you don't like it then just don't play it. I am keeping the actual battle as accurate as possible. No idea what's up with the missing pilot. Need to see if recent game updates have added or changed something that I am not aware of. 2

Might want to make a note of that when the player sets up a new campaign - i.e., that the date they are choosing for their campaign is out of the actual campaign's historical timeline.
Brano Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Is it necessary to set campaign start for Stalingrad for 1941 to have MiG,I16 and P-40? I thought that only restriction would be date of introduction.Nevertheless, none of those planes were in service in reasonable nr. at Stalingrad. Two IAPs with kitty, one IAP with mix of ishaks spanning production years 1936-40 (I call it museum collection ) and very few MiGs,could count them with fingers on your both hands
PatrickAWlson Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Is it necessary to set campaign start for Stalingrad for 1941 to have MiG,I16 and P-40? Yes and no. Currently the Stalingrad campaign is defined in PWCG as 08/42 through 02/43, In the next release the dates will cover 1/1/42 until 12/31/43. BoM planes that really were at Stalingrad will be there for the historical period. P40 and Bf110 were at Stalingrad, so they will be there. The Macchi 202 will also be available. I think that I made the Mig3 available for a little bit of the battle but it is gone after a short time. All BoM planes are incorporated into the non historical beginning of the battle. The Ju87 with gun pods will be available in the non historical end of the battle. The idea is to maximize what we have. We have planes from 1941 all the way into 1943. By extending the dates players can play a campaign and actually transition from type to type. It just happens to be on the same map. Sticklers for historical accuracy can choose not to use the extended dates. 1
Dutchvdm Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Hi Patrick, Will the front move during this period? Thnx Martijn
PatrickAWlson Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Hi Patrick, Will the front move during this period? Thnx Martijn No - it has no place to go . That is a serious answer but more specifically, the western edge of Stalingrad doesn't have enough airfields to support a campaign. This limits my ability to move the front beyond the point that I already have (Eastern half of the map).
