BlueHeron Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 I've been having great fun with the 105 update. New map, new planes and a new campaign.... good times! Not much fun anymore though since I got to the second phase of the BoS Part 1 campaign. FPS and stutters are worse than ever, the game crashes a few times a day and even Windows is crashing (overheat?) I think my old PC is just not keeping up with the game engine. Too bad, I didn't even get to put Battle of Moscow on it. Oh well.... it's been fun.
von_Tom Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Never mind. Upgrade when you get a chance and the good times can come back. von Tom
Rjel Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 I can sympathize BlueHeron. My machine is getting older too. I can't fly the campaign with fluidity I'd prefer, but I can still fly the quick missions or just tool around and enjoy the sim with high settings. I wouldn't walk away completely from it until your upgrade.
Gunsmith86 Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 (edited) Try PWCG there you can limit the numbers of units in game to a point your PC can accomplish. http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/19184-pwcg-quick-start-guide/ Edited December 13, 2015 by Gunsmith86
Jade_Monkey Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Not sure whats the point here? So you have an old Pc, and? I think the solution is pretty clear.
Tenko Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 FX6300 100$ Asus R9 270x 180ish (if you check'used' there will be brand new open box/damaged box items for dirt cheap got mine for 150$) What ever parts your old PC has carry them over.(Harddrive Ram MB(if it can run AM3+ ) Spent 400$ for a FX6300,R9-270x,89$MB(wanted the 8usb ports) and got 8GB 1600mhz Ram for 33ish (bundle deal). Carried my HD and my Windows7 Serial key from my old pc. I can play the Campaign on High with no issues at all. runs smooth and great.

[CPT]milopugdog Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 I found out that the the largest map size in campaign will cut FPS for some reason. Could be because of all the markings on it.
BlueHeron Posted December 14, 2015 Author Posted December 14, 2015 (edited) The point is I'm venting. Glad to hear the stuttering might be fixed, I'll try again after 1.106 is released. I was hoping not to upgrade soon. Having 2 AMD video cards, I'm hoping to see some great performance gains with the DirectX 11 version of DCS. If yes then I'll stick with DCS for the time being... if not then I'll start shopping for new hardware. Thanks for the tips, Tenko. Edited December 14, 2015 by BlueHeron
