Having trouble assigning air brakes on/off switch with the Lagg 3. I assign airbrake to a button on my flight stick and does not work for some reason when I switch it on?  When on autopilot while taxing I can hear the airbrakes working  just fine. There must be something I am doing wrong.

The lagg3 dont have air brakes. If you're hearing "it working" while taxing, it must be something else.

misinterpretation. the Lagg has pneumatic brakes...they work with air. that's what you're hearing on the ground. the pneumatic brake system. they are not "air brakes" they are "brakes working with air"

It's the same button as for all other soviet wheel brakes.

Have you tried the Ask for example?

What you need assign is button for "Wheel brakes" (in Main Controls).

BTW - Be pressing this button and  moving the rudder pedal (or "twist" rudder) right or left you brake only this wheel for taxi maneuvers. And this work too for Luftwaffe, P-40.

This means: if you don't have a rudder pedal with toe brakes, don't need bother in assign keys or buttons for "Right wheel brakes" and "Left wheel brakes".

I have CH pedals with toe brakes, so I need to select "Wheel Brakes" assign a  button and then when taxing press the button and use either the right toe or left toe brake to  turn, is that right?

No that's incorrect for lagg breaks. You press a single button and the break on each wheel is actuated by applying rudder in that direction

That is my way for all russian planes, just brake and rudders for direction.

I have CH pedals with toe brakes, so I need to select "Wheel Brakes" assign a  button

In this case - if you like "complication" - use CH soft' and assign right/left toe brakes axis to press a key, e.g. space, then assign this key for "Wheel brakes".

To use in Russian planes: press the toe brakes right or left - this will brake both wheels, then moving the rudder for right or left will brake only this wheel.

Notice that this is not "toe brakes" (Luftwaffe, P-40), but brake wheels with foots. :)
