Hello,
I hope somebody could help me out with this. I have the v. 1.105 of the game and the latest driver for the TrIR5. It has been working flawlessly together, never had an issue ever. A couple of days ago while I was in the middle of flying, I noticed that I could only pan up to 9 - 3 o'clock when I look on either left or right (the X axis). I can't look all the way back any more.
I have been playing with the tanks lately and when I did some flying, that's when I noticed the issue. Could it be that I have hit a key while playing with tanks that might have caused the limitation in the head movement? I tried the TrIR5 on the other flight sims and there weren't any issues. Only on BoS.
I have already tried re-installing the TrackIR driver and scanned for game updates. Also tried resetting the game's controls to default but to no avail.
I hope someone could help me before I reinstall the game itself. Thank you very much.

Since the TrackIR is working in game, I would look cause for the problem in TrackIR profile.
-in TIR use the view that shows reflections / lights and check if they change color from green to red when you turn your head. If they turn to red they are moving out of cameras view.
-check what profile TIR loads when starting BOS.
- increase yaw sensitivity if necessary
- check what keys you have assigned in TIR for non-BoS profiles and disable them if necessary. With the profile-key you can use multiple profiles in game. Maybe you're accidentally switching profiles in game?

EDIT: I don't know how familiar you're with TrackIR software but here are couple of pics

For example here is my DCS (quite different from my BoS profile) that will get activated if I press Insert-key. In the Top-Right corner is the camera view. Check also that those green dots are in the center when you look forward and adjust camera angle if necessary.

Check here if your desired profile is loaded when launching BoS.

I'm having weird issues, too.
I can pan up to certain extent(first picture), but instead of being able to look "up" out of the cockpit, the view snaps to my 6 o'clock, as shown in the second picture.
Very annoying dirung dogfights.
The third picture shows my attempt to "lower" my head while zoomed out. No joy. It stays like that, or snaps back.

I had those snapping issues at some point. I think they were caused because because I was turning my head so much that the leds (using TrackClip Pro) were in the zone that the camera had problem reading them. Try increasing the turning speed in your TrackIR profile so that you don't need to turn your head so much.

You could also try setting the speed to 0 at that point that you reach max head turning in game. Just Alt-Tab from the game to TrackIR software and see where that limit is.

For me mounting the camera into monitor was too close and I had problem looking back while leaning. I have the camera mounted now about 1 meter from me. It is attached to window with an improvised mount (a suction cup attached to TrackIR camera mount with a screw).

when using trackir, you need to set it back from the user 18 inches back away from your head and left of center for IR users. mines 2 feet away.located on top of a 32 inch BenQ monitor, where my eyes are centered on the monitor. my leds ir are on my attached headset left side as centered in the trackir software.

TrackIR4 user here. Nothing wrong until a few days ago, the red cross for aiming was right all the time:

This was PE2 a week ago

This is Pe2 now

and il2 today

Drivers for trackIR are the latest ones (just checked) and game profiles too. I didn't change anything...

It's only in these 2 planes. The rest are perfectly fine. Even if I try to calibrate trackIR being lower so I can see the cross when sitting correctly, the view corrects itself again!!!

Maybe your pilot position was changed after patch. Use F10 to save a new default head position.

How is that? I have never ever had to save any position. I just turn trackIR on, start the game and press F12 to save the default position. are you talking about that?

If you are talking about that, it does not work. The position is the right one, but the cross is lcoated below the default position.

Thanks

I think your problem is in IL2 game, not in TrackIR.

Atleast my head default head positions were changed during the last patch. With the default position I mean that view you get when you press numpad 5 or the view you get if you start the game without TrackIR (it should be a view looking straight and showing the target reticle).

There are couple of ways to change the default head position:

1. While you're pressing the numpad 5, you can alter the position with head up/down/left/right keys.

2. Pause your TrackIR and alter the position with head up/down/left/right keys.

3. Use TrackIR and move your head until the red target reticle is in center of your screen.

And then save this view with F10.

I agree that problem is not in Il2 and also shouldn't be related only to this last patch as it also happened a week ago and only since a week ago.

I'll try what you say and also try it with no trackIR active. If the problem is still there is just a bug. If it's not there it might still be a bug but related to trackIR.

I'll check at home tonight.

The problem is still there when there is no trackIR, so it's a problem with the game itself.

EDIT: the problem was the camera itself was saved in a different position. I just moved the view with Insert, Home, Delete, End, PageUp and PageDown and saved with F10 and it works again. As Remonti said.

Thanks!

Thanks Remontti. I haven't been playing this month so I haven't had the chance to check this.
