~S~ Everyone,

Just thought I'd share this for late comers, and those that have not yet discovered, how truly fun, the new tanks can be.

First, for those of us using TrackIR and the like, you can't use TrackIR and Mouse Control the turret. Toggle TrackIR off.

And second, change these two settings, in the second column shown, for twist joystick or pedals, and, for acceleration.

Done. Use the throttle quadrant for continuous forward / backward movement, and "rudder input", for steering it around.

This made using the tank in sessions more fun since you no longer need to hold down keyboard keys to move and steer.

Keep 'em Rolling,

Has anyone managed driving a Panzer 111 to get to the end of the village without getting knocked out?, I'v tried straight down the middle and the flanks but with no luck, you stand a far better chance in the T/34

Good idea. I'll give that a go. Thanks!

Yes, is very practical, but set a good "dead zone: center" in the axis (the box "Input responses"), or will be complicated stop to fire, specially in middle of battles.   :)

And - as many players are trying "reinvent the wheel"* : use joystick to move turret -  this don't result better than mouse, that allow precise aim.

To make things easy, add the mouse middle button click to "center gun" (reset camera) and mouse right button click to "take/leave the turret" (gun).

Be press the second you can scan around without move the gun (if want), and be press the first, fast move the look forward.

* Of course is allowed reinvent the wheel;)

I can't control the turret after pressing T

Anyone know what command I need to bind my mouse to so I can control the turret?

I think I've probably unbound some stuff in my quest for simplicity :D

I have played with the tanks almost exclusively since they were released. It has really been a nice change of pace for me. Some of the staleness I was beginning to feel for BoS has lessened with the new maps and now the ground game.

I finally decided for my benefit to have two INPUT folders, one for planes and one for tanks. I just switch them out depending on what I want to do. It might not be needed but it works me. I've found having the controls mapped to a game pad with my turret controls mapped to my mouse works great. If I zoom out in the gunners position, transversing the turret is pretty comfortable and I'm able to sight targets well that way.

Should be the same as taking control of the gun in a plane gunner position, Emil.

Try it out there once in QC in a 2-seater back gunners position:

- punch T so you may move the gun with mouse axis;

-punch again so the gun gets stowed and you may look around with your Trackir.

Tank:

-LCtrl+C gets you from driver seat to gunner and the gun IS tied to the mouse;

-punch T and it gets stowed/neutered in central position;

-punch now RAlt+C and the hatch opens/you look out from the gun tower;

-punch T and the yellow reticule/ target marker appears + the gun tower is tied to the mouse axis;

-punch T again the tower centres, reticule is gone, gun is disarmed but you may look around with Trackir;

ect ...

"T" reset the turret in alignment with tank hull.

Once you pressed "T" for the first time you can look around with the mouse or the TrackIR by moving your head (duh)

Press "T" one more time, and you regain control over the Turret with the mouse, hence loosing the control of TrackIR on view which become ineffective. Looking around is now attached to the turret.

Yep the problem is I think I've unbound the mouse control. I need to rebind it again but I don't know what to bind it to, head movement or something maybe?

Try assign mouse axis for the camera as in this post - sometimes is need re-start the game for axis assignment make effect.

About this confusion with mouse for control turret/gun:

There if I am in driver position, mouse move the Camera POV, and if I change for gun position (turret) the mouse continues moving the Camera POV and thus the gun - is not need press additional key.

But if I change for gun/turret position and press T the gun is parked and don't move until I press T again.

Maybe change position and press T is the cause of some not be able to move the cannon.

Eventualy you may as a last resort return the key bindings to default?

Before it may also be useful to make a backup of the data/input folder to fall back on.

Success, Emil

When in the gunner position, why does the turret seem to move almost uncontrollably too quick when view is zoomed out, yet slowly when zoomed in?  I would think the turret rotation rate would be the same.
