Cybermat47 Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 I checked out the new home page for BoS today, and I noticed that the Yak-1 was in the game. I thought that the only Soviet fighters would be the LaGG-3 and La-5, so this was quite a pleasant surprise! I'll have to try out the Yak-1 in IL2 1946 DBW when I get home. And I also realised that if BoS has the same aim-assist feature as Rise of Flight, I'll finally be able to use the He-111 effectively! Well, at least until I learn how to use the bombsight...
BeastyBaiter Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 It's always been there along with the Bf-109G2. We haven't really seen anything on them yet, but it's always been there on the main page. As for aim assist, it's the same engine as RoF and from what I've read, I think bombing will be very similar. Never used the aim assist in RoF but the bombsites are pretty simple. Input speed, altitude, wind and line her up.
MarcoRossolini Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 And unlike the LaGG I believe the Yak-1 (not sure which type it will be) was actually a half decent fighter... I've had good impressions of it in IL-2 and (dare I say it) WT.
Finkeren Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 And unlike the LaGG I believe the Yak-1 (not sure which type it will be) was actually a half decent fighter. We'll be getting the late production version with the VK-105pf, which isn't too far off the (so called) Yak-1b performance wise. It'll most likely be highly competitive. There have been a few threads dedicated to (or derailed into) discussions of its capabilities against mid-war Bf 109s.
MarcoRossolini Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 So, who's going to be the white rose amongst us then? (was it the Yak 1b she flew...?)
Feathered_IV Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Both I believe. Although mostly the Yak-1. I'd love to see the 1b modelled, as I find it the most attractive by far. Pretty little starfish that it is.
MarcoRossolini Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 A quick google revealed that this is most certainly not the Yak 1B (the 1B has a canopy reminiscent of the Yak-3)
JaMz Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Sokol1 That will look swell with holes in it! ~S~
SimFreak Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 I noticed front page has IL2 single seat while video showed back gunner. Are we getting another version?
FTC_Karaya Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 The rear gunner is a field mod and will be an unlockable within BoS...
Finkeren Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 A quick google revealed that this is most certainly not the Yak 1B (the 1B has a canopy reminiscent of the Yak-3) I didn't say it was a Yak-1b. It's a late production Yak-1 with different canopy, different wings, different armament and slightly different structure, but comparable performance.
LLv34_Flanker Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 S! In original IL-2 I flew they Yak-1b quite a bit. Was a fun plane even after they corrected the "slip" of it having almost Yak-3 performance. Hopefully we do not have ANY magical FM's in BoS on ANY side.
6S.Manu Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 (edited) I remember the fun during the training sessions with the old IL2: Yak's pilots used to mock the 109's ones since they could still fly with dozens of holes. It was a flying Swiss cheese. Don't remember if they could fire the green laser... if so the mocking was at the highest level. :-) Edited November 13, 2013 by 6S.Manu
Matt Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 The Yak will probably be the plane that i'll fly the most in MP. So i'm definately looking forward to it. I'm also a bit happy that they did not do the "b" variant. I somehow prefer the look of the earlier variant, even though rearward visibility will be worse.
