Trying to install hsfx 7 on Steam IL-2:1946

Install over a new clean copy of IL-2 1946 updated to 4.12.

a.

Make sure that you have all 3 parts of the hsfx 7.0 installer (10 files) in the same place on

your computer.

b. Point the installer at your il2 root folder and run the installer

c. Open jsgme.exe and enable HSFX history mod

d. Run game

 

despite following these simple steps, it doesn't seem to work. Starting up campaigns and single missions causes the game to crash, doing quick battle crashes the game within minutes. And all the google searches are coming up with contridicting and confusing instructions.

 

How do you install this mod and run it? (Mind its the steam version)

 

I've also been trying to update it to 7.0.3 using the auto-updater, but it's not working and I can't figure out why.
