will people continue to fly BOS planes when BOM (better) planes will be available

I assume it will continue like that with another expansion etc (would like to see the spitfires)

Even thou OP incorrectly stated that BOM planes are better I believe that all planes will be used after BOM is released.

BOM planes can always be used in a BOS scenario but not the other way round

Yak 1, Lagg 3, Me 109 F4, He 111, Ju 87 D all overlap with the BoM plane set.  The addition of BoM creates a nice continuum from 41 all the way into the middle of 43.

The Yak-1, LaGG-3 and Stuka variants involved are considerable improvements from their 1941/early 1942 counterparts, so they don't quite fit the Battle of Moscow itself. However, the Moscow map has Kalinin, Rzhev and other areas which were contested up to early 1943 I think.

Edit: Actually I think the LaGG-3 s.29 was there in the beginning of 1942, but I can't confirm it.

Of course I bought BoM on general principles and early access to the new aircraft , but I do wonder other than a great new map ( i hope) and the new planes whether there will a real "jump" or difference between the two sims?

I think sadly for me that only really play MP that the difference will just be an extra map and some more aircraft. Im not the biggest fan of the SP

What should be the difference between BoM and BoS then, if not the map, campaign and planes?

I find the BoM plane set considerably more varied and interesting than the BoS one, even if the planes are generally less capable.

I hope to see MP servers pop up with plausible late 1941/early 1942 plane sets (the non-premium BoM planes along with the BoS LaGG-3, He 111 and posibly Ju-87)

Well I'd guess if I had my way:a well thought out semi historical campaign for each sidewith static objects on the ground ( Tanks , men ,vehicles) in sufficient numbers  to at least give some idea that there is a battle going on between two opposing armies.I do like BoS ( esp now with PWCG* up & going) but SP missions & campaigns strike me as very minimal ( perhaps because this sim has to function on lower end PC's?) I'd like the creators to spend some time ( or hire one of the talented third party campaign builders ) to develope a package of single missions & one full blown campaign ( not like the non involving official campaigns for Micky Mouse medals we have in BoS..) for the two or more of the various new aircraft that covers the time period BoM is supposed to represent & one that a player's success influences the whole campaign.

* A big thumbs up for Pat Wilson's Campaign Generator recently introduced for BoSwhich I totally enjoy! :salute:

Hopefully soon we'll start to see at least a mini-online war. We now sort of have two theaters. I mean, no more airplanes than Il-2 started off when BoS first came out. And with BoM we will have two theaters once all of the aircraft are out and the map is completed.

I have no delusions as to this being complete, but it is far ahead from Il-2v1.0 from 2001. With BoM, it will add more and within a year or two I bet it'll have even more. Look at Il-2 1946, that's damn near a decade worth of work - when it first came out it was barely anything - far, far less than BoS (I still remember all aircraft having the same gyro precision, torque values, and rotating of the prop, plus there was zero prop drag - Jets even had torque, JETS! until after Aces Expansion Pack). Over the course of its life it fixed many of it's FM issues, it made the FM and DM more advanced, it never fixed the high altitude issue, it never made a realistic ground handling model - unsharpened ice skates for all! - and it took several years after Il-2 v1.0 to even get a dedicated multiplayer capability. The campaign itself was developed by a third party person, there were 3 static campaign missions with Il-2 v1.0's release. BoS/BoM is about to have a great campaign generator from the amazing Pat Wilson for those that are interested in SP. But I guess I'm getting a bit further than the initial intent but Il-2 took a decade to become what 1946 is and its already ahead of it in some ways while lagging behind in others but we'll see how it looks in a decade which I absolutely hope it will make it.

BoM planes are mostly less capable in terms of raw performance than many BoS planes, however - they can be used to great success against the BoS aircraft.
