Repost - Previous has a "conflict" = Alt+Tab for AI orders. :)

Since you probable use this stick in front the keyboard, the ideal is remap the keyboard for left hand only use, without modifiers or few, as in the example, similar functions are grouped, e.g.

Gunner/Pilot, Take MG, AIM, Next MG = R, T, Y, U

This provide fast access to this functions. Same principle used for other functions, e.g. engine related.

Is not need change the default keys assignment, just add these new in other column in controls.

I use Joy2key to set the base buttons as modifiers

here is my setup

I also use TrackHat Clip for head tracking, so if you need to hat switches to look around, you may need to shuffle controls and drop stuff (probably engine cowl settings as that is only applicable to aircraft like P-40, La-5, I-16 which I assume you don't have)

Engine Cowl Flaps (La5..) and Water Radiator (Il-2, etc) controls can be set on same keys/buttons, despite the different names the function are the same: cool the engine and the plane that have one type don't have another.

I've found the thrustmaster M16000 inadequite for online multiplayer and am upgrading to trackIR +saitek x52 pro.

Thrustmaster was configured as follows:

center top button, center the head view.

left/right top buttons is mixture.

hat forward/back is zoom.

hat left/right is lean side to side.

mouse movement is for head movement.

mouse wheel for throttle.

mouse buttons for radiators.

LOL, a "luxury" mixture on joy' buttons, propeller pitch adjust will be more useful, this if fly in "EXPERT".
