6./ZG26_Klaus_Mann Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 The Bf109E and Bf110E came with three major engine options used after 1941. The DB601Aa/Ba worked best at low altitudes delivering roughly 1050-1100PS at Combat Power, but Performance drops above 4000m. It was the Preferred Engine for JaBo work. This is the engine used by the Mc.202 Full Pressure Altitude was 4000m 1045PS Combat Power The DB601A-1/B-1 (currently ingame) was a good medium altitude engine, delivering less power at low altitude but had more power above 4000m. In late 1940 it received an update which allowed RPM to be increased to 2600rpm above 5500m which meant that its altitude potential increased even more. Normal Full Pressure Altitude at 2400rpm is 4500m, increased with RPM increase 990PS Combat Power The DB601N/P (very rare in the Emils) was a high altitude version using higher octane fuel with a Full Pressure Altitude of 4900m. Its power delivery was better for high altitude combat. 1050PS at Combat Power Having all three, similar to RoF handles it, would be absolutely lovely. None of these engines are OP. Even with the N the Bf109E-7 would still not perform as well as the Bf109F-2. 1
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Likewise they could also implement the M-105 P engines for Peshka, Yak-1 and Lagg-3. I'm all for this suggestion but I fear this interferrs with their friemdly "balance program" too much (better performing aircraft eith worse engine vs worse aircraft with better engine configuration). Also, it should not be made an unlock. Instead numbers of aurcragt with better/more rarely deployed engines should be reasonably limited by the mission designer.
6./ZG26_Klaus_Mann Posted December 22, 2015 Author Posted December 22, 2015 Bump, since the MiG-3 is really, really, really good even at ground level. The Emil really, really really needs the Aa now, and the 110 really, really, really needs the DB601P. The P-40 is currently the fastest ingame aircraft at low level with 575 kph. The MiG-3, once the heating is looked at, will be the fastest BoM fighter at altitude. The I-16 climbs better than the Emil, and as well as the F-2 at ground level. I don't think there will be balance issues with more engine options.
