I want to keep 1.104!!! How do I stop it from automatically updating when I start BOS?

Do I have to unplug my internet connection?  Is there a better way...  No issue with 105, but I'm benchmarking and don't want to update yet...

The standard installation makes you launch the updater every time, so it will check your installation and update it if there's a newer version available.

 

If you don't want that, you can navigate to the <IL2>\bin\game\ folder and find il2.exe there. Map that to your desktop, and use it as long as you don't want to upgrade (credits to simplyjames, see: http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/18727-no-internet-how-do-i-start-game/?p=294457).

Ok, I spoke too soon!!!  It does not work!  I mapped the file and it appeared to go into the game but then when I clicked "OFFLINE" it says I must update.  Akkk!!!!  How irritating!!!!

It works only, until you have once pushed the online button after the patch is out.

In addition a lot of changes made to FM are not documented in patch release info.

Keeping the last version allow precise benchmark and comparisons.
