Yes, and if we're making things really authentic here, when playing German pilots you are only allowed Ersatz Coffee (blech!) I'll have to rely on my Russian brothers to relate what Soviet pilots used to wake up (other than the Commissar smart guys)!

I`m more interested in a Collector`s Edition myself. Shame if they didn`t have such a package in plans.

If they would come up with collectors edition with good map and t-shirt and what-not... I think I would have to buy it also...

Your post was fine.

I was surprised too they made the cover with the 109 chasing the Lagg. Usually, at least on the cover, the 109 is the bad guy and everyone wants to make it look like it's loosing.

Someone in the office there is going to get a visit from the "patriotic department".

Now reading that post again I realized it was me that needs the coffee.  Thx1138 was talking about the yak/Lagg misidentification and I thought he's talking about the position of planes.

Can I have the template of the box to print it, cut it out and put on the shelf?

I've read a few of the memoirs on http://english.iremember.ru/ lately, one of the pilot memoirs has this info:

"I can't say that the food was up to much, but it filled us up: meatballs, gruel, bread, butter and tea."

Some very interesting stuff on that site (much more interesting than this). A few of the memoirs are cookie-cutter but others are golden. There're only 4 pilot memoirs, recommend checking them out. There's one passage about a shot-down Soviet pilot in an occupied village, who kept safe from German inspection patrols by wearing a dress...

Insane, as in "insanely cheap when you consider how much use you will get out of it"?

Consider the price of a good graphics card. Is that cheap?

Posted

There's a $50 option.

Posted

Everything i relative, 94.99 is 94.99, for a game.

94.99 for the base game to be more exact.

Dont want to start anything, but if i deduct what i got for my old gtx 570 (2 generation old card btw), 94.99 is almost exactly half of what a gave for my new Gtx760.

Enough of that, time will tell if its expensive or not.

$50 for the base game.

EDIT: $60 for the Spring retail release.

How about

Track IR5  $149.95

Saitek X52 Pro $169.95  and much more batter if  get

Saitek Pro Fight Rudder $199.99

so....To get a real good wwii flight sim $94.99  is no insane. LOL

waste time to play  $50 arcade sim is my real insane.

edit:

Market volume for flight sim  is not big so unit price is high.

Considering all the other stuff you need to own to properly play the game, $100 for the game is the cheap part.

Considering the thousands I've put into this hobby over the years, suddenly I feel like questioning my sanity.

It's probably best not to dwell on the money spent on flight sims over the years.

The old "just think of all the money I would have spent in the bars!" excuse has worn thin, especially since I started bringing the bar home.   There has got to be another way...

Guys, embarrassingly, I still have a copy of 'Streetfighter II Turbo' for the Super Nintendo, purchased around 20 years ago (maybe a bit more....). The price label on it says £59.99. That's $97.78. That's what it cost twenty years ago. I don't think $95 for Stalingrad is massively expensive. If you think of the inflation over the last twenty years, then compare the two games, it gives a slightly different perspective. :D

No, disagree away, constantly disagree until he's beaten into submission, never relent.

Only when the disagreement is what he agrees with.

Agreed..

Positive mate. My SNES came with the basic SFII, so when they brought out the 'Turbo' version, I just had to have it. I could make a fortune on ebay with all my SNES games. Sorry for OT BC.

Standard version (no Fw-190A3 or La-5) is $60 I think. That's the same price as current top tier new releases such as Skyrim, Rome II, BF4, CoD324243297 and so on. The price will go down with time obviously. The premium version could be thought of as the collector's addition I suppose.

I can't remember what ROF cost but it has given me a lot of joy over several years and will continue to do so for many years to come.  CLoD ... not so much.  I think BOS will be a great value and am happy to support.

Sry for the negativity.

I do wonder if this pricing structure will put off the new flight sim enthusiast.  I don't mind paying the premium because I realize the value, but what of new converts? The only argument I have is the price of games like CoD or Battlefield being over $60.00 U.S. For the added money you are getting a lot more, but I'm not sure that's enough for most to over come the sticker shock.

EDIT: I got RoF for $39.95 U.S. about 3 weeks after it was released. Much more than fair IMO.... as a matter of fact I think it was undervalued. But that's just me.

I bought RoF within a month of release as well, think it was $40 too and included just 4 planes. I've since spent quite a lot more on it, have every plane there is and most of the mods for them. No doubt adds up to atleast $200 total. Well worth it though. I regret paying $50 for BF3, I do not regret paying $200+ on RoF.
