Jaws2002 Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Check youre aircraft ID. That's the LaGG Never post before the morning coffee. 2
Grifter Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Never post before the morning coffee. Yes, and if we're making things really authentic here, when playing German pilots you are only allowed Ersatz Coffee (blech!) I'll have to rely on my Russian brothers to relate what Soviet pilots used to wake up (other than the Commissar smart guys)!
Mac_Messer Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 I`m more interested in a Collector`s Edition myself. Shame if they didn`t have such a package in plans.
LLv44_Mprhead Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 If they would come up with collectors edition with good map and t-shirt and what-not... I think I would have to buy it also...
Karost Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Never post before the morning coffee. Hi Jaws ... you are right sorry for my error I'll keep aware it
Jaws2002 Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 (edited) Hi Jaws ... you are right sorry for my error I'll keep aware it Your post was fine. I was surprised too they made the cover with the 109 chasing the Lagg. Usually, at least on the cover, the 109 is the bad guy and everyone wants to make it look like it's loosing. Someone in the office there is going to get a visit from the "patriotic department". Now reading that post again I realized it was me that needs the coffee. Thx1138 was talking about the yak/Lagg misidentification and I thought he's talking about the position of planes. Edited November 12, 2013 by Jaws2002
=FI=Macca Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 (edited) Can I have the template of the box to print it, cut it out and put on the shelf? Edited November 12, 2013 by =FI=Macca

I'll have to rely on my Russian brothers to relate what Soviet pilots used to wake up (other than the Commissar smart guys)! I've read a few of the memoirs on http://english.iremember.ru/ lately, one of the pilot memoirs has this info: "I can't say that the food was up to much, but it filled us up: meatballs, gruel, bread, butter and tea." Some very interesting stuff on that site (much more interesting than this). A few of the memoirs are cookie-cutter but others are golden. There're only 4 pilot memoirs, recommend checking them out. There's one passage about a shot-down Soviet pilot in an occupied village, who kept safe from German inspection patrols by wearing a dress... Edited November 12, 2013 by Calvamos
Streiff Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 94.99 for a game, thats just insane. Im sorry, but it is. Im afraid that will put off a fair amount of people who cant throw money around every witch way. Sry for the negativity. 1

DD_Crash Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Consider the price of a good graphics card. Is that cheap?
Streiff Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Everything i relative, 94.99 is 94.99, for a game. 94.99 for the base game to be more exact. Dont want to start anything, but if i deduct what i got for my old gtx 570 (2 generation old card btw), 94.99 is almost exactly half of what a gave for my new Gtx760. Enough of that, time will tell if its expensive or not.
FuriousMeow Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 (edited) $50 for the base game. EDIT: $60 for the Spring retail release. Edited November 12, 2013 by FuriousMeow
1CGS LukeFF Posted November 12, 2013 1CGS Posted November 12, 2013 Dont want to start anything, You already did by stating the price is insane.
DD_bongodriver Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 You've done it now Baron, you are about to be lynched.
AndyJWest Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 You've done it now Baron, you are about to be lynched. Not really, no. Disagreed with, certainly. Or don't you think people should be allow to disagree with each other on the forums?
FuriousMeow Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Only when the disagreement is what he agrees with.
Karost Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 (edited) no no no ....It not just $94.99 How about Track IR5 $149.95 Saitek X52 Pro $169.95 and much more batter if get Saitek Pro Fight Rudder $199.99 so....To get a real good wwii flight sim $94.99 is no insane. LOL waste time to play $50 arcade sim is my real insane. edit: Market volume for flight sim is not big so unit price is high. Edited November 12, 2013 by karost
BraveSirRobin Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Considering all the other stuff you need to own to properly play the game, $100 for the game is the cheap part.
Gustang Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Considering the thousands I've put into this hobby over the years, suddenly I feel like questioning my sanity.
thx1138 Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Considering the thousands I've put into this hobby over the years, suddenly I feel like questioning my sanity. Your family has already been warning you for years about that
BraveSirRobin Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 It's probably best not to dwell on the money spent on flight sims over the years.
Gustang Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Your family has already been warning you for years about that Eh?
Gustang Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 It's probably best not to dwell on the money spent on flight sims over the years. The old "just think of all the money I would have spent in the bars!" excuse has worn thin, especially since I started bringing the bar home. There has got to be another way...
VA_NAVY Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Funny all the BS generated by the flight sim crowd while waiting. 1
Dutch Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 (edited) Guys, embarrassingly, I still have a copy of 'Streetfighter II Turbo' for the Super Nintendo, purchased around 20 years ago (maybe a bit more....). The price label on it says £59.99. That's $97.78. That's what it cost twenty years ago. I don't think $95 for Stalingrad is massively expensive. If you think of the inflation over the last twenty years, then compare the two games, it gives a slightly different perspective. :D Edited November 12, 2013 by Dutch

Dutch Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Jesus.. You sure that didn't include the NES too? Positive mate. My SNES came with the basic SFII, so when they brought out the 'Turbo' version, I just had to have it. I could make a fortune on ebay with all my SNES games. Sorry for OT BC.
BeastyBaiter Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Standard version (no Fw-190A3 or La-5) is $60 I think. That's the same price as current top tier new releases such as Skyrim, Rome II, BF4, CoD324243297 and so on. The price will go down with time obviously. The premium version could be thought of as the collector's addition I suppose.
smink1701 Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 I can't remember what ROF cost but it has given me a lot of joy over several years and will continue to do so for many years to come. CLoD ... not so much. I think BOS will be a great value and am happy to support.
Trident_109 Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 (edited) 94.99 for a game, thats just insane. Im sorry, but it is. Im afraid that will put off a fair amount of people who cant throw money around every witch way. Sry for the negativity. I do wonder if this pricing structure will put off the new flight sim enthusiast. I don't mind paying the premium because I realize the value, but what of new converts? The only argument I have is the price of games like CoD or Battlefield being over $60.00 U.S. For the added money you are getting a lot more, but I'm not sure that's enough for most to over come the sticker shock. EDIT: I got RoF for $39.95 U.S. about 3 weeks after it was released. Much more than fair IMO.... as a matter of fact I think it was undervalued. But that's just me. Edited November 12, 2013 by Robert
BeastyBaiter Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 I bought RoF within a month of release as well, think it was $40 too and included just 4 planes. I've since spent quite a lot more on it, have every plane there is and most of the mods for them. No doubt adds up to atleast $200 total. Well worth it though. I regret paying $50 for BF3, I do not regret paying $200+ on RoF.
