Comet69 Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 I have a saitek x52 and I couldn't set up the thumbwheels on the throttle to control pitch like in my other games. Was considering buying a new stick but I wondered what would allow trim on the stick and could be setup the same across this and other sims like CloD. Anyone have know what are some good models for this game?
Sokol1 Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 (edited) Was considering buying a new stick but I wondered what would allow trim on the stick Depends on what you mean with this "trim on the sick". I can trim with a 30$ four buttons stick using his HAT (+modifier) - a digital command - for trim, but unless for Br 109 "Stabilizer Adjust" a guy with his 500$ warthog cant trim other BoS planes using his unique slider/rotaries - a analog command. The announced - but not realeased - VKB Gladiator Plus will come with some rotaries that instead use anolog devices (potentiomers/magnetic sensor) use digital device (Encoder), so may allow "trim on rotaries" the BoS planes in this stick. More info there: http://vkb-sim.pro/underdevelopment/ Other alternative - if your X-52 are fine for flight control - buy a "rotaries box" with Encoder instead potentiometers, sample: My advice is, save the money and wait Q1 - 2016 to see how good (and prices, availability) are the new VKB joysticks - electronic they should be better than Saitek/CH and maybe Warthog. BeastyBaiter Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 The X-52 Pro is arguably the single best joystick on the market for WW2 sims. The issue you're running into is most BoS/BoM planes forbid using trim on a slider/rotary due to exploit issues and realism (most BoS/BoM planes actually use a three way switch for each trim). Just assign it to a hat switch and be done with it. Alternatively, you can use the Saitek software to make the two wheels emulate a two way hat.
dburne Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 (edited) For my Warthog, I just used the TARGET software to create my joystick profile, and assigned pitch and yaw trim to my Hat1 switch with modifier ( paddle). Single press trim in small increments, press and hold continue to trim until release. Did the same for Cliffs of Dover. Worked like a champ... Not sure if the Saitek software can do similar? Sokol1 Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 (edited) In true one can trim with HAT in same way, small increments or continuous, even without use joy software, just assign in game GUI. Here the guy explain the use of Saitek SST software, to make axis press buttons. http://www.saitek.com/manuals/st/advanced_EN.html Edited December 1, 2015 by Sokol1
kestrel79 Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 I use the mousewheel on the throttle for my elevator trim in all my sims with my x52 pro, works great. Then you click it in to reset trim.
