Willy__ Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 I'm gonna be honest, I didnt expect much about the tanks, and I also kinda looked at the mouseaim with bad eyes. But they sure brought some more players to the game, which was badly needed. But today I decided to give a go on the official normal tanks & planes server (since it will be the first stop for those getting to the game now) and I had a blast! I usually play on the expert servers, but I wanted to feel how the servers with a bunch of new players feel like. Sure enough, I decided to play as a bomber/tank hunter with the Stuka and the Heinkel and mid session someone joined me as a gunner and for long I didnt have much fun like I had today. Although we only used team chat for comms, it was good enough and soon I was blasting through tanks and he was keeping my six clear. For my surprise he was totally new to the game, and didnt have any joystick. As a last sortie he decided to take a stuka with the mouse aim, I came as a wingman on my own stuka, he managed to bag 2 T34s with the SC1000. I had a great time and for sure he also had some fun! Congratulations to the devs and all 777 team, you really nailed it with the last patch, bringing more accessibility to newcomers. My little adventure just shows its possible to play the game and have great fun even though you're new and/or dont even have the proper setup (joystick, headtracking, etc) which, in my view, was what stopped a lot of people from coming to BoS/BoM. Does anyone have similar stories ? Cheers! 8
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 I finally get to fly the new patch on Monday! Can't wit.
Finkeren Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Great fun so far, I concur with all your observations. 1.105 really could have been a disaster. Introducing drivable tanks and mouse aim in one package. Certainly there have been no shortage of doom-n-gloom from some parts of the old crowd. BoS would be turned into an expensive WT clone in one fel swoop. Instead the forum is now overflowing with praise, people are having tons of fun, MP is as crowded as it haven't been for a year or so and the worst criticism people can come up with is, that some of the new blood that's trickling into the game are ill behaved young rascals. Once again a predicted Apocalypse fails to materialize. 2
Rjel Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Good post istruba. In the end, having fun and getting enjoyment out of BoS is what counts. If someone isn't, why bother playing? For me, the last two patches have added so much appreciation for the game and it's future. With the influx of new players, there are good times ahead I think.
steppenwolf Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 The mouse aim and tanks are definitely a step in a nice direction, but they're hardly the features many enthusiasts have been waiting for.
Finkeren Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 The mouse aim and tanks are definitely a step in a nice direction, but they're hardly the features many enthusiasts have been waiting for. Agree, but it might be the features that make posible the things we do wait for.

ShamrockOneFive Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Agree, but it might be the features that make posible the things we do wait for. 100%. And very happy to hear about the infusion of newer players. It's a smart move by the developers even if the curmudgeons in the community get slightly annoyed
Sokol1 Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 (edited) The mouse aim and tanks are definitely a step in a nice direction. Mmmm, the real direction that this point is only one: "game". How good is, depends on what is adopted in the future on the same line... Tanks is another history. Edited November 28, 2015 by Sokol1
