Welcome Mariusz, hope you'll have great fun :)

There's a lot to learn when first starting out on this sim, so don't ever be afraid to ask questions around here. People will be tripping over one another to help you out.

The T-Flight Hotas also uses the "Target" software that Thurstmaster offers.  It's used to program the joystick as well.

No, TARGET work only for Warthog/Cougar and T.16000M.

Seems this two are the only joystick really "Thrustmaster", the others:  T.Flight HOTAS X, T. Flight Stick X and USB Joystick are OEM joysticks with Tm logo and use different electronics/and due his console compatibility is not TARGET compatible

Suggestion - using Joy2key for send Alt and Shift in the second rudder axis to have more functions. Since this axis have return to center will act as momentary button.

Considering that you dont have "headtrack" (TrackIR, Freetrack...) and use joy POV HAT for camera control and dont have rudder pedals.

X_HOTAS.png

- Don't waste buttons in joystick with things unimportant like "start engines" - this have 1/2 use per mission, use the keyboard.

- LG (landing gear) I classify in the same case, but as I have no other idea for use some buttons... :)

- Flaps is the same, but some people will advise the use of "combat flaps" in Yak-1.

I left one button for TS PTT online - if you plan fly only offline, use this button and set on Joy2Key for press the sequence F2-F1 (external/internal camera).

The joystick, besides control the flight should be used primarily for: control your SA (camera) if you dont have "headtrack", primary weapons (MG cannon), secondary weapons (rockets, bombs) with modifier - that act as "safety lock".

The "wheel brakes" in trigger (with Shift) plus twist rudder allow control left or right brake in Russian and Luftwaffe planes. This will require discipline to dont fire MG in taxi maneuvers.

You need add Shift and Alt together with buttons in game GUI - start Joy2key first to configure (after can use Alt+Tab and start Joy2Key after the game if forget).

You dont need alter the "default" commands (what scary many people...  ) just add the buttons as above in other column - the game accept 3 different buttons/keys for each command.

Rudder and Aileron trim I left for keyboard (e.g. use arrow keys for this) since few planes have both (besides elevator/stabilizer adjust in all).

Perhaps result more practical set mixture (few use) in the throttle base buttons and use the thumb buttons (+shift) for elevator/stabilizer trim.

After you get used can use Joy2key for set modes, eg. land mode an flight/combat mode.

:joy:

Sokol1 Thank you so much for your time you have spend to do the tutorial for me:-) I,m thinking to use the free camera head tracker because the Tracker IR it is to expensive for me :-(

I will try to set up the joystick today. Yesterday i was looking for some downloadable file settings for my Joysticks but no luck. When i finish setup the joystick i will make downloadable file so people like me can download :-)

Sokol1 Thanks a lot for the advice. This sort of button lay-out map was exactly was I looking for (yes, i'm a total fresh newbie to flight sims as well). Only problem is that I don't have a clue how to configure the pedel to Shift and Alt, like you're showing in the picture. I am using Joy2Key, however I don't seem to get in working. Could you please explain how you did that?

In Joy2Key this rocker switch (Pedle) is a axis, click in then and move left /right and you see the axis highlight.

For one side of axis assign Alt, for other Shift, so you can use both as modifier for other buttons, increasing their usability.

BTW - When I test this assignements work OK (with other stick), but recently people are saying that Alt+A is see be game (Bo'X') as "Alt+A" and "A".

In this case is need use pause in between keypress, Joy2key don't has this function, try with freeware XPadder, allow add pauses between Alt and A.

Create a shortcut for joy2Key or Xpadder and tick "Run as Administrator" or Windows UAC prevents keypress work for games.

I was having problems with this joystick (namely getting the throttle to work).  Once I downloaded the latest drivers from Thrustmaster, it worked perfectly in BOS/BOM/BOK.  Figured someone would be interested.

https://support.thrustmaster.com/en/product/tflighthotasx-en/

The file name from the site is "2016_FFD_4.exe"

Click on the arrow by the Drivers option then you should see the red Download button for Unified Drivers Package - 2016.FFD.4.

What % sensitivity do you guys use on all surfaces? Think im running 70 EL, 60 AIL, and 55 RUD. Picked up BoS today since its half off and being already adept in RoF. I could just still be yankin on the sticks too much coming from slower more maneuver forgiving planes. The sticks rudder dead zone is a bit floppy and aim's more jumpy than in RoF for me.

Hi there! I have the Hotas X but struggle with the throttle. What ever I do it is invertet. Pushing up lets the throttle go down. Pushing let it go up. Did try to assing and invert in the menu bit it just dont have any effekt on the issue.
