LG1.Farber Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 (edited) Based on this comment: In an election you'd have to be living under a rock to miss the news that an election vote was being taken, this is a game forum, one that people may not check all that often. Looking at the numbers of founders when the vote started compared to the numbers who voted gives you a figure of just 20% - that's a minority. When I brought this up during the vote some people answered that this was a good indication of how the result would be if everyone voted yet the vote swung in favour of keeping the gunpods exclusive by 10% in the last few days of the poll. One reason for bringing this up is that some of the most vocal people complaining about it and perhaps making people feel badly simply for accepting a gift were people who had not pre-ordered and didn't seem to have any real intention of buying the sim. He is spot on! So can we (founders) get an email when there is a poll... I dont come here often as I would rather just be told "its out you can play it" and be presently surprised rather than be spoon fed snippets and bits and bobs, which is all good and well and appreciated by some but others have a more corporeal expectation, I feel the hype might end in disappointment with some of the responses I have had from devs both directly and indirectly so I'd rather have my head in the sand until its out and so by not getting hyped perhaps I will be impressed rather than let down... So are we founders or not? Let us found it, all of us! You've got our emails already... use em! Edited November 11, 2013 by 5./JG27Farber

LG1.Farber Posted November 11, 2013 Author Posted November 11, 2013 Not bad but we will get email every time someone posts there... I only wanna know if there is a community interactivity.
1./KG4_Blackwolf Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Thanks I did not know that either. Farbar, we can't start a post there so maybe the emails wont be too bad.
Rama Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Not bad but we will get email every time someone posts there... I only wanna know if there is a community interactivity. I tried and decided yesterday to follow the poll forum. I got an e-mail this morning when a new poll was launched. I got no e-mail for peoples posting in existing polls. (there was at leas 4 posts in existing poll during the night) ... so poll forum following probably fits your needs.
Revvin Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 I think Farbers point is, that still needs the user to know how to and then subscribe, I've liked the email correspondence regarding the dev updates, perhaps this could be expanded to cover important polls when 777 ask for community opinion.

Yup.
BMA_West Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 (edited) Looking at lots of dev decisions in the old ROF development days, those followed the view of a hard core inner community, from alpha state on. Later while the community grew the polls reflected less and less on the real numbers of the game owners/participants 'cause still depending on largely the same ppl or the same minded. Better not to copy ROF entirely, wards and all. This is about involving a broader player base, also that silent majority, which in itself is a quite a challenge but is the only way to come to something representative and so to keep the interests of the broader community alive. So the devs already took the trouble of feeding links to polls in their blogs, e.g.: - Developer Blog 36 for the R7 exclusiveness poll; - Developer Blog 33 for the unique Lagg-3 skin final poll. Very well done. Congrats, guys! If they could now keep this up with every poll that they esteemed important this would be a very good place to start indeed. Also better not forget that to the results of the poll-participation in here are added those of the parallel ones in other languages. Edited November 12, 2013 by West
LG1.Farber Posted November 12, 2013 Author Posted November 12, 2013 (edited) Yep polls should be inclusive of all voting, not split by language as this gives a misleading impression when part but grouped votes don't match the out come. Also West is right when he says allot of people dont even post cos they will get elbowed out by those with high post counts. It's self destruction on part of the community and we should really stop acting like konbs and be allot more welcoming and supportive... Leaving the ego's at the door and stop being so lana. In the end we are only destroy what we love. Edited November 12, 2013 by 5./JG27Farber
