On The 11th Hour Of The 11th Day Of The 11th Month The Guns Fell Silent.

Sadly they never seem to stay that way. So my hats off and a toast to all the members of the armed forces S!

And here is my hero of the day younger son on the job in 2007.

:salute:

We cherish, too, the poppy red
That grows on fields of valor led;

It seems to signal to the skies,
That blood of heroes never dies,

But lends it's luster to the red
Of the flower that blooms above the dead.

Thank you ladies and gentlemen who served and are currently serving. Would that we reach a day when your service is no longer needed.........

I like the idea of remembrance, it concentrates minds. However I also used to hate remembrance Sunday because it meant drill practice, polishing boots to a mirror finish and generally lots of being shouted at and general bullshit, capped off with a church service when, to be honest, I would have preferred to sleep off my hangover somewhere rather quieter.
