6./ZG26_5tuka Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 I wish i could play without using the mouse, when i have the Thrustmaster joystick Is that not possible ? Thank you Yes it is. The T.16000 has a center 8-way hat swtich that can be mapped for view controlls. It works pretty solid in BoS due to good customizebility but it's kind of slow. It's still work well with some training.

I think you can adjust the speed under the camera tab, you certanly can adjust the zoom speed
=362nd_FS=Hiromachi Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 I've been flying for a year in BoS until I got TrackIR, the setup I had was a stick in right hand, keyboard on the desk and mouse in left hand for looking around. It was to my mind optimal setting, only second to stick + TrackIR. It might not be as comfortable to keep mouse in left hand but after some time you will get used to it and will see how easily it can work. Dont forget to bind one of the mouse buttons to center the view in the cockpit, this way if you loose yourself or got to make sure your view to target is perfect just click and you know its perfect center.
SR-F_Winger Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 Look at Winger being all on the positive side today good to see that mate Welcome Avyx, I hope (well I'd like to say "know") that you'll be having tons of fun. Don't let it get you down, if you find things a bit hard at first, we are a lot if people who would gladly help a newcomer out in any way posible. I am most of the time. I just write more when i am upset:P

SharpeXB Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 I received today the joystick, i have to assign all the controls now, i never used before a joystick, so i will have to check some videos about how to do thisThe first thing you should do with a joystick is calibrate it. I'm not sure which brand you have but possibly they all have this in common. There have been a few posts here already in which this seemed to be the solution. Windows needs to know the full range and center position of the axises. Do that first before going to assign them in the game, that part is easy. Some joysticks like CH have their own software, some use Windows. In the BoS menu you should see the response go 100% each way and to the center when you release the stick. Then you will want to experiment with the Senstivity setting, there are a lot of posts here about that too. Most of the time a joystick right out of the box in these games will feel very jumpy and sensitive, that's normal. You can tone that down in the game.
SYN_Mike77 Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Anyone else feeling slightly nostalgic watching a new comer discover the joys of a proper flight sim and joystick? I have that Thrustmaster T16000 as well. Until I got Trackir I used the hats switch to look around and it worked just fine. The stick has a good number of buttons and you will use them all. I have the right hand base buttons for trim. They are the hardest to get to (for a right hander) and you use trim the least. Landing gear, flaps and canopy control are on the left hand side. I picked up a three lever throttle some time ago which has my engine controls so you may want to play around with your button settings. Have fun! 2
Avyx Posted December 3, 2015 Author Posted December 3, 2015 I have the Thrustmaster T16000M as well But soon i will get the TrackIR 5 I didn't know that i have to calibrate the joystick first. Would that help if someone with Thrustmaster T16000 upload the setting, and i use them ? Thank you
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 (edited) You dont nessecarily have to calibrate it. Both my T. Flight Hotas X as well ss the X52 Pro worked out the box, plug and play. If you encounter issies with jerky axis behaviour or that your inputs are smaller than they should recalibrate it in windows setting (system -> controllers -> joystick ->calibration) Edited December 3, 2015 by Stab/JG26_5tuka

SharpeXB Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 (edited) When i want to play online, i have no idea how to take off I found some videos on Youtube but there is no tutorial about Thank you Everything you need to know about flying is in these films. Especially the Robert Taylor films. All this is very applicable to BoS and all flight sims. The handling of the tail wheel WWII planes is explained very well too. http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/12346-basic-flight-non-combat-training-films-the40s/?do=findComment&comment=191099 Also check out Requiems Channel on YouTube. Also, there are some kind people in MP for sure who wouldn't mind explaining a few things, just ask in chat The main effort has to come from your side, though. If you want to take it easy first you probably are served best flying onr of the 109s or maybe the Stuka (it's heavy and forgiving during takeoff and landing). SharpeXB Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Chucks Aircraft Guide is very useful as well. http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/10268-chucks-aircraft-guide/?p=157599
Lusekofte Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 As said before, this game is the best for conversion from WT, it got all the difficult steps you need and easy flight model to pretty difficult. It do not need too much hardware for immersion so you could easily start with just a Joystick, yes you can fly with the mouse , but I recommend joystick and when you can afford it a TrackIr. Welcome and good luck As for the community, it is a mix from WT to hard core simmers. pretty inclusive bunch. Take a little time and learn the basics offline. It is not much time to help using chat online
SYN_Mike77 Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 I find the easiest plane to fly to be the IL2. Slow and stable. By far the easiest plane to land safely.
Avyx Posted December 3, 2015 Author Posted December 3, 2015 Ok, thank you for advices, guys. One question : whenever i play, i receive the message ' press P ' or something like this. Can i skip this ? And by the way : i will get soon a Track IR 5, i hope it helps
SharpeXB Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Ok, thank you for advices, guys. One question : whenever i play, i receive the message ' press P ' or something like this. Can i skip this ? And by the way : i will get soon a Track IR 5, i hope it helps "P" is just the Pause command. All the missions start Paused so you press P to start them. You will like the TrackIR :-) it's a big help. Especially if you're just learning since it replaces a multitude of commands for just looking around. That makes the rest of the learning curve less steep. I bought one as soon as I got my first flight sim.
bokepacha Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 (edited) Avyx, I don't fly much because of time, but I on weekdays I use to play 1 hour, between 7:30 to 8:30 to 9, Eastern time.I have only around 35-40 hours ingame and I totally suck at gunnery here (being playing civil and military sims for a long time it embarrasses me, but I am learning fast).Feel free to contact me via private so we can learn together and practice some gunnery or missions.I have the joystick you mentioned, it was only 12$ as a second hand offer almost like new. I can tell you, coming from pedals and a X45, it's being hard to shoot players, not that much for ground targets but a little sometimes. BTW, trackIR is a MUST for inmersion. You will love it. I have a trackIR4 for a long time and I can't live with out it. Feel free to add me if you use steam (nickname is bokepacha1 there). Edited December 3, 2015 by bokepacha
Avyx Posted December 3, 2015 Author Posted December 3, 2015 (edited) Thanks a million for helping me, guys Bokepacha, why did you change the joystick if the older one was much better? Now I am a beginner but i am pretty sure, in the future i will get a better joystick, but first i want to learn how to fly, etc I will add you tomorrow, and i will send you a pm And by the way : i hope i could get a bigger tv, 40 inch is okay but i want 48 inches Samsung UE48JU7500 seems to be a great one, lower input lag, better contrast and colors and of course, 20 cm larger Edited December 3, 2015 by Avyx
bokepacha Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 (edited) Thanks a million for helping me, guys Bokepacha, why did you change the joystick if the older one was much better? I moved from Spain to New York. No room for such things. I sold several MCP's and levelers too. Sad moment but for a better future tough! I miss them so much...but I'll buy some again when I make more money! I got a Vizio 42" recently and for the black friday there were 60" TVs are terribly good prices... SAG Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 how is the Vizio? 4k? ips? vivid colors? input lag? gracias where are you from Avyx? if you dont mind me asking...
bokepacha Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 (edited) how is the Vizio? 4k? ips? vivid colors? input lag? gracias You have 4k, of course but for me are not worth the moneypit they are. fullHD and you have a ton of cheap but very good quality options. I chose vizio because the reviews were quite good and for 350$ 42" is a good price. They barely have any input lag and are very good for gaming. I personally like the colors, they are quite vivid but not in excess so just a little of tweaking and it was in my range of liking. If you are looking for 4K and 50", this is the first result for "vizio 4k" in Amazon: www.amazon.com/VIZIO-M50-C1-50-Inch-Ultra-Smart/dp/B00T63YUJO/ I didn't check the reviews or anything but feel free to take a look. Edit: if you want to know the history of prices of Amazon products in real time or keep alerts if the price goes down, I suggest you install in your browser the free plugin keepa.com offers. It shows you this below the picture of the product and I find it very useful in my daily job marketing and fighting with Amazon. Edited December 3, 2015 by bokepacha

Thank you Edited December 5, 2015 by Avyx
SharpeXB Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 It looks like the TrackIR 5 comes with the "TrackClip" which is the reflective set you wear on the brim of a cap (they sell visor caps too) http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/products/trackir5/ The TrackClip Pro is sold separately. http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/02-products/product-TrackClip-PRO.html There's also a bundle with them together for less cost. The Pro a set with lights and so has a cord and is meant to be worn on headphones. I have only ever used the TrackClip but not the Pro I think the Pro is useful if the room you are in has a lot of light which can affect the reflectors on the TrackClip. Maybe someone else has some experience and can comment. The room I game I has only one window behind me so the light is never a problem for me.
Avyx Posted December 5, 2015 Author Posted December 5, 2015 I found this, for 190 euro http://www.trackir.eu/shop/en/trackir-5/Trackir5-Gamer-Set.html?XTCsid=v3r3m4bmbmmj3cre8a0b5cl7u2 But some users says, it's a very cheap plastic, the TrackClip Pro.

I have heard that commented on a lot regarding the Pro. You need to be careful with it since it is made of plastic. It's easy to bang against it by accident and break it.
Avyx Posted December 5, 2015 Author Posted December 5, 2015 (edited) Yes, but in this case, what is recommended ? That would be a better option, but i can't find it here in Germany http://www.trackhat.org/#!trackhat-clip-plus/cvhw Edited December 5, 2015 by Avyx
Yogiflight Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 Just google TrackIR, there is a page "2connect", seems to be the german representation of TrackIR, same prize. Or you look to amazon, they also have it.
Avyx Posted December 5, 2015 Author Posted December 5, 2015 Would that be ok ? http://www.amazon.de/Trackir-Gamer-Komplett-inkl-TrackClip-schwarz/dp/B0062OAEC2
Yogiflight Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 I bought my TrackIR directly at 2connect. When I remember it right, the delivery didn´t last longer than with amazon and I just took a look on your amazon link, they also sell it for 2connect. They only are the selling platform.
Jade_Monkey Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 Frankly I dont see the issue with the pro clip. It's not made of titanium but you won't break it unless you crush it with you feet. If you are like me and hang your headphones near the computer, you will never have an issue with breaking the pro clip.
SYN_Mike77 Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 If those headphones fall off the desk where your computer sits it can break. Unless you realize that a $2 hook for your headphones would stop that from happening...after it broke and you had to buy a replacement. In all seriousness. If you play with headphones on anyway Z(for sound control reasons) or if you are in a very brightly lit room then go with the pro...If you don't mind wearing a hat the whole time you play get the reflectors.
bokepacha Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 When I bought my trackIR4 it came with both systems. I never used the pro but one time. I prefer the hat.
Willy__ Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 (edited) Or you can build a clip yourself! Its not that hard, 3 leds, 3 resistors, few wires and a couple of duct tape/hot glue and voilà: you have your own DIY track clip pro Edited December 6, 2015 by istruba
GunnyHighway Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 After 2 years of playing War Thunder, i want to try out some combat flight simulators, so i want to give it a try to IL-2 Sturmovik : Battle of Stalingrad Willkomen Avyx! You ask many questions about joystick, but i am wondering what were you using as a joystick when flying in War Thunder?...They also have a forum, no one talked about joystick there?
bokepacha Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 Willkomen Avyx! You ask many questions about joystick, but i am wondering what were you using as a joystick when flying in War Thunder?...They also have a forum, no one talked about joystick there? In WT, Joystick users were relegated to play Sim battles. In Arcade or Realistic Battles almost everyone uses mouse, because it gives you sniper precission. Damn, even I was using it because with joystick it's way way too hard and unrealistic. There has been a fight between mouse and joystick users since version 0.25...
GunnyHighway Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 Wow!...That is interesting!...No wonder someone could be asking details about joystick here then! Those kids with their mouse, they bastardised WT!
SharpeXB Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 I personally find trying to use a mouse in a game like this frustrating and not fun at all. Trying that years ago on another flying game got me to go buy my first joystick after about two minutes.
