indiaciki Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 If it becomes the Call of Duty of Flight Sims it not because of the sim. It's because of the player's mind sets.
MigSu Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 (edited) I am also agree with plane set, i mean, extra set. Could be organized by the year of a battle BOS, BOM etc And something very important, divided by side, air force. In other words, i know that much of us (here and not here) will pay with no problem for almost any plane of LuftWaffe, like others will do the same for american ones, and others (like me) will buy any russian ones. And i am telling this because i see it every day in comments from mouth of pilots of squadrons, most of blue just love blue and that's it, and reds are red. Of course also system like this could help avoiding the nonconforming feeling of some users of paying for a package/scenario/battle anyway but they are just interested in about one or two models. A lot of selling, so all happy. Regards Edited November 24, 2015 by E69_MigSu
indiaciki Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 (edited) I really don't undestand the logic of taking sides when it comes to planes. Either you love planes and flying or you don't. My Grandparents were bombed by Stukas and He-111. My granfather watched an airbattle on the 6.04.41 between 109E (german) & 109E (YU) & Hurricanes (YU). I love flying German planes. I love flying the Ju-87. For God's sake the Israeli Air Force flew the 109. Planes don't have nationalities. If you love flying you'll be glad flying the most rare and maybe flawed planes. They are fun. They are challenging. If you're about winning whatever that means go play FPS, please. This is the golden generation of airplanes. There will never be one like the last piston engine airplanes of WWII. The planes and pilots of WWi & WWII will never be forgotten. It's like the iliad of the air. MigSu Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Do you feel the same love for a Yak9? just like a BF109?
indiaciki Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 (edited) Do you feel the same love for a Yak9? just like a BF109? Absolutely. I love the Yak 1. She's the best aerobatic plane in BOS by far (without flaps). I prefer the yak over the 109 actually because of her elliptical wing but I have never flown the 109 before BOS so she's exotic and very ugly. I didn't like her when I was a kid.The Yak 9 would be a dream ! (Yak 3) Edited November 24, 2015 by indiaciki
ShamrockOneFive Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 I've got to say that I'm pretty much loving any WWII era warbird you can throw at me. I've found something charming or interesting about essentially everything in the Il-2 1946 line up and that love transfers through to this game. I was somewhat biased towards British fighters like the Spirfire and Typhoon and I loved stories about some of the American aircraft too... So when Il-2 originally came out in 2001 I was uninterested... But the Russian and German types now hold just as much interest for me.
indiaciki Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 (edited) I grew up thinking US planes and the Spit were like the best aircraft ever built bare none until I read a very ineresting american book about soft power and the financing of Hollywood movies and documentaries by the Penatgon. They funded movies, articles and documentaries. (My son had to do a seminar work on that while studying sociology at the university) I'm not saying that US planes were / are bad but they are the only ones you see on TV. Others were simply non existant. That was part of the cold war. That was perfect propaganda - I'm not trying to diminish US aircaft, But it's the media that started in WWII and never stopped. It was brilliant by the US administration but how many soviet WWII did you know before BOS? It was all about P-51s - The Cadillac of the Sky, wasn't it? Words are weapons. The past 60 years were a war of words at least, luckily. The US did a great job. Very good work indeed. Hats off ! Edited November 24, 2015 by indiaciki
Fern Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Almost everything you see today is still propaganda or a recruitment tool. Why would the U.S. Government even mention a lagg-3, yak, or la5 to Americans? Maybe that's the problem with these games, everyone wants their plane to live up to the propaganda they were sold. 1
gn728 Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Actually - ( and I'm U.S.) I think the original IL2 series got a lot of people interested in the air war in the East and the VVS. Did me anyway...
CheeseGromit Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 I can see you point but it is somewhat of a tenuous proposition at this juncture. If it is a purely financial decision on your part (ie. Money is tight on your end) withholding at this point is completely understandable. On the other hand, if you are both withholding due to planeset AND hoping for the continuing success of the series it may be a self defeating position to take. The developers are doing an excellent job and delivering excellent content. Despite a few minor and couple of serious missteps I have completely gotten my money's worth. If I were an SP guy I'd have a few more gripes but I'd still be throwing cash at them, for their efforts thus far, and consider it monies well spent. In fact I have, at my earliest convenience, for both titles. So, again, if it's for financial reasons - power to ya. If it's for the other thing, I'd hate for both of us to lose the series because, "I didn't get that one plane I wanted that one time." It's not a purely financial decision. However cost is certainly a factor and that's just how I value my money when it comes to spending on gaming. Gaming for me a kind of a frivolous hobby and I've got fairly broad gaming interests. This is an expensive product in my eyes with a high base price coupled with a low local currency exchange rate to the US$. So to be blunt but honest, the BoM content doesn't interest me enough for the asking price. With specific reference to the P-40, it doesn't matter what colour it's painted, I'm not that interested in it as an aircraft for the premium price, either packaged or as a single purchase. If it was P-40 plus three US and four Japanese aircraft, that might be a different story. I'm content to wait and see.
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 (edited) Fair enough. This explanation was clearer and I can see your point. If the series continues, as I expect it will, you will probably get that planeset but with a different version of the P-40. By that time they MAY be selling individual AC. With all of the gameplay improvements, maps, content, planeset, etc, I'm pretty happy with my BOM purchase. I'm ready to toss 80 more bucks at BoX. Edited November 24, 2015 by [LBS]HerrMurf
