-Roy-Cheesy-Chops Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 pc advice needed what is this is it a socket for power or graphix ive seen it as a card for something possable power i have just bought a radeon 280x and something is not working the pc just does not boot what could be wrong ive put my old graphix card in and now im here what is a pci express card theres pci-e express ive seen that also could some one explain these terms to me please ive gone and bought a few wires to fit into my power supply and my new 280x but unfortunatly its not sorking can some one talk to me please and explain everything yours tartan81
dburne Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 PCI Express is just the format of the slot itself. Back some time ago there were PCI slots , and they got changed up to PCI Express slots, with different rated speeds like x16, x8, x1... If your graphics card plugs into it, it is a PCI express slot. You will typically want to insert your graphics card in the first PCIe X16 slot. As far as your issue, post your system details and which slot you are plugging it into and someone may be able to help.
