I've just upgraded IL2 to latest patch 4.12.2, loaded Lagg3 vs Fw-190, map Slovakia winter.

Sadly every time I try to install 4.12.2 it gets 3/4 of the way through the install and then vanishes. I load up Il2 and I'm still stuck at 4.12.1

No, stock Il2 1946 patched up to 4.12.1

I have no problem with  IL2 patch  4.12.2   confirm 

 

 

but while waiting  SOB I like to try  ROF with 50% discount  playing career mode for 1.5x setting

I  try to break Red baron record......

Neat. I just started playing Il 2 with the HSFX-7 mod. I am really digging the Yak-1 with Klimov-105PF and the La-5. The LaGG-3 is definitely useful, but I would not want to face down the FW-190 with it. Speaking of bomber interceptors, the 1952 Mig-15bis and Mig-17 are both a hoot in HSFX-7. MJ

Maybe desactivating your virus scanning sw will help.
