DD_APHill Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Hi I used to be able to take off in the above mentioned aircraft but now I find it impossible for some reason. I have plenty of airspeed before lifting gently off. (220 km/h or faster) and they always roll to the right and crash ( ounce and a while to the left) as if I didn't have enough airspeed. This happens every time even though I keep the nose at a reasonable AOA. ( I've even tried just keeping it level) They still roll and crash. On grass or concrete runways. I am obviously missing something here. Like I said I used to be (before the big update) able to take off with no problem. Any help would be appreciated Thanks
-NW-ChiefRedCloud Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 I have this problem with the 190 (left pull) but it's due to the high toque of the engine and over compensating (by myself) that I attribute my problems. You see, I'm guessing as with any "real" aircraft there is a certain feel you get as a pilot with each aircraft that we can't get in a simulator. But enough. I didn't answer your question but I share some of your frustration. Chief
DD_APHill Posted November 13, 2015 Author Posted November 13, 2015 Thanks Chief I'm glad to know I'm not the only one out there that is having this problem. I went through it all before with the 109 k in DCS. Just seems strange that I'm having this problem that I didn't have before the update. To be honest,I gave up on BOS about a year ago for various reasons but came back to see the new maps. (which I find to be beautiful.)
Guest deleted@50488 Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 All of the BF's of BoS feel much more plausible, IMHO, than the k4 in DCS. I haven't had any problems taking off in the new maps. Are you using 15-20 º flaps when loaded above 60% fuel ? Have you properly calibrated your controllers ? Do you have the trim set at "0" for takeoff ( something impossible in DCS...) ?
-NW-ChiefRedCloud Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Funny but in the DCS 109 I had no problems. But the Dora reallly, really hates it (or me) on the ground. Again in DCS it's a matter (so I'm learning) to guide it on the ground and try not to over power or over steer it as it rises off the ground. Still working on both DCS & BoS/BoM 190. Chief
unreasonable Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 It is hard to know what the problem is without a track or video, but you might be using too much flap, creating some asymmetrical drag? Manual says 20 degrees - personally, unless I am using bombs, I do not usually use any. If you stay on the strip, nose level, until you are well over 200kph, unstick but keep a low AoA, and immediately press gear up, it is hard to see why you would roll. I have only had a couple of trips recently, but I did not notice anything having changed in the FM. (It is the initial roll out that sometimes gets me - either I have forgotten to lock the tail wheel or I do not keep the brakes on in the initial run up - hello left hand hanger again )
indiaciki Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 You need flaps 2 notches for the F & G and trimming nose down helps. Lift your tail at about 100km/h and rotate at 180 km/h you won't even need max power. Before you lift the tail pull your stick until you reach about 50 km/h and slowly release pressure. Once your tail is up you need less rudder so if you keep right rudder the same you'll overcompesate and go right. After take off don't climb. Watch for the left tendency. Reduce throttle. Keep level and gear up. Flaps up until you gain speed about 300 km/h. Then climb and trim.
Trooper117 Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Not having a problem here... Flaps set to 20 degrees. Tail wheel locked. Increase throttle smoothly to 2600rpm/1.3 ata. Stick back on initial roll, gradually easing pressure until doing 120-130kph. Then tail up. Monitor tendency to swing with right rudder. Usually rotate at 190-200kph (usually lifts off nice and smoothly) The only thing I've noticed is that the left wing will drop as I get airborne. Apart from that it's a piece of cake, as they say Just a point though... are you checking that all your control surfaces are working correctly before you commence the take off?
DD_APHill Posted November 13, 2015 Author Posted November 13, 2015 Boy I am just not getting it. I absolutely cant take off. I'm using no flaps and I have used flaps. I did check all surfaces to check proper operation Calibrated all of my controllers. I have tried flaps and no flaps. I lock the tail wheel , power applied smoothly ATA 1.2 or so not full power. I've tried full power reducing it as speed builds. I keep it running straight down the runway (concrete or grass) lift off with plenty of airspeed. Keeping the nose down or slightly up. It always rolls right of sometimes left. I am using a CH stick, throttle a pedals. I am going to uninstall and reinstall. I was using my warthog stick and throttle first and then switched to my CH stuff. Maybe a clean install setting up from the get go with the ch stuff will help.
No43_Handsome Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 (edited) Try manual pitch control, with the pitch set to 12 o'clock on the indicator for taxiing and take off. I think doing this cuts out whatever forces move around as the prop governor spins up and down in response to throttle movement and airspeed. This makes directional control a bit simpler? Be quick sorting yourself out after take off though. Busy time. Edited November 13, 2015 by No43_Handsome
LLv24_Zami Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 (edited) That is strange. I think taking off G2 or F4 is pretty straight forward. Full throttle and right rudder basicly before ~200km/h. New install might be worth a shot. Edited November 13, 2015 by Zami

FlyingH Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Just a thought, have you got some keypress accidentaly set to aileron controll? Has happened to me at times wich gave the same result, rollin into ground when applying a command on the stick, HOTAS (Warthog) or pedals!
DD_APHill Posted November 13, 2015 Author Posted November 13, 2015 Well, Thanks to all who posted I really appreciate it. The reinstall and remapping did the trick! I have had no problem at all taking off, in fact it has been as I remembered it. Fairly easy. I must have had some control conflict as mentioned by FlyingH. Anyways it off to the "unfriendly skies" over Russia! Thanks Again for the help 1
Sokol1 Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 (edited) Don't know how is in WT, but betwen il-2's (all "flavours") and DCS, BoS Bf 109 is the most easy to fly (and landing). The weird camera angles is to show the control surface used. Are two small involuntary movement in control column, due bad potentiometer in the Cyborg (spare) stick used, that have the best throttle I see in joystick (including Tm TQS). If you guys have problem to fly BoS Bf 109, check your joystick settings, or your... virtual pilot skills. Edited November 14, 2015 by Sokol1
Sokol1 Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 Check the guy there, piloting the Bf 109 with his... smartphone. http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XODAyOTE2NTU2.html

Guest deleted@50488 Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 I am sorry, because I also tried to really like DCS and still try from time to time, but, the whole feel in BoS is soooo much more realistic ... specially in the K4. And inflight, and during approach, where the trim settings really make sense, the aircraft inertias, the sounds... Well Indiaciki, thank you for the moovies, and for reinforcing the reasons why I decided to make IL-2 ( and also RoF ) my two only combat flightsims, actually my preferred flightsims ever, to which I run whenever I want the closest to real simulation of old and powerful prop aircraft
von_Tom Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 Probably reverse aileron controls. You try to correct and just make it worse. Happened to a squad mate even though he hadn't remapped beforehand. von Tom
Sokol1 Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 I like the challenge to fly the K-4, he don't forgive your errors (probable due the "inferior" FM)... But use only as "Flight Sim", not as "CFS/G", I don't like all the "what if" involved.
