FONS Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 (edited) Every single day i have to set up all the key bindings, because each day each peripheral (thrustmaster warthog joystick, throttle, and rudder pedals) has a new number in-game. Why does this happen and how can i solve it. I am always connecting them on the same usb port, which btw shouldn't be necesary. Its frustrating having to rebind everything everyday when i connect the peripherals... Edited November 13, 2015 by FONS
No_85_Gramps Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 This is an ongoing issue with how Windows handles USB enumeration. Take a look at this thread: http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/18442-bos-keeps-reassigning-joystick-numbers/
JGr2/J5_W0LF- Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Guys is there a way to make a copy of your key bindings and just drop them into the games folder before you open it up to play. If so where can I find that file. Seems like that is an easier solution then re mapping keys every time I go into game! 1
FONS Posted November 13, 2015 Author Posted November 13, 2015 Thanks for the info Gramps. I will have to remember the order when i plug them then! And Badger that would be a good solution. If i find anything i will write it here.

Your BOS bindings will show Joy0, Joy1, Joy2, or whatever you have setup. Occasionally for some, all the time for others, Windows will change the numbers, joy 2 is now 1, joy 1 is now 0, etc. The numbers would still have to be changed in the BOS configuration. The devs are looking into detecting joysticks by the real identifier, like DCS does, instead of relying on the windows assignments. Read through the thread in msg #2 above and you'll get a better idea as to what is going on. Edited November 13, 2015 by Gramps
Sokol1 Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 (edited) For now the more "easy" workaround is use Notepad++ find and replace functions and replace joy numbers when change occur. Look at Control Devices (joy.cpl in start box) to see the actual order, and take not of the last. Edited November 13, 2015 by Sokol1
JGr2/J5_W0LF- Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 (edited) Well my Joystick order is this TM Joystick TM Throttle CH Pro Pedals Is there a way to save them in that order for windows? It looks like the only quick fix for me right now is to boot system up then reboot system before I go into game. That seems to work for me now. Any idea when they will fix this, Its a real pain in the arse Edited November 13, 2015 by 4./JG53_Badger
TX-Gunslinger Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 http://theairtacticalassaultgroup.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13009 This is a link to JoyIDs. It's a little program that's made to deal with this issue. Display's windows joystick assignment/id's AND allows for easy switching of those ID's. Older program but runs fine on my 64bit Win 10 system.
G_GART Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 Well, all key mapping are stored in 2 files called "current.actions" and "current.map" located in :\1C Game Studios\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\input folder, you can open thise files with notepad and edit manually and save your changes, but make a backup of these files before you change them. because when you open them you will read "IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED TO CHANGE ANYTHING HERE! " and "Well, it is still possible, but on your own risk."Remember that your changes must be implemented in both files.
SharpeXB Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 I just applied the big November update to Windows 10. It changed one of my order assignments but now they seem set in sequence. I disconnected and reconnected them and they kept the same order. So far every time I have started the Pc that order has stayed. I'm hopeful or curious if this might have solved the trouble. Any similar experience?
No_85_Gramps Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 The new Win 10 update did not change anything on my system. Shut down or restart, no changes. I never unplug my controllers either.
JGr2/J5_W0LF- Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 TX-Gunslinger hey man do I need to run that JoyID in the background or once I have it setup it stays that way. Thanks

Older program but runs fine on my 64bit Win 10 system. I don't know if i am missing something, but that app don't changes the numbers on my pc with win10 x64. Not even running it with admin rights. Read in more posts that the app doesn't work since win8. So could you tell me what are you doing to make it work? The new Win 10 update did not change anything on my system. Shut down or restart, no changes. I never unplug my controllers either. I would like to see 1C Game Studios working on changing this system, from ID's that never worked well, to the names of the joy's as all the other sims. Because having the joysticks always connected is not the most normal thing...

Right. see even if the joy# system was working perfectly and you leave all your controllers plugged in, adding a new one or removing one will change the joy#s They've been told about this one and Han mentioned in one of his posts that changing the menu was in their plans. 1

Very few people has their joysticks plugged in 24/7. I personally don't know anyone. So good news, hope they fix it soon.

Sokol1 Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 Very few people has their joysticks plugged in 24/7. I personally don't know anyone. So good news, hope they fix it soon. Well, mine are plugged at years - no reason for plug/unplug.
TX-Gunslinger Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 Just re-checked to see if I can change assignments. Work for me. I select with mouse the ID# I want to change from it's current assignment (left mouse click) - then I select the slot I want to move it to (Left hand column Cur ID), the left click on that. A dialog asked me to confirm the switch. Answer yes and it's switched. You shouldn't have to run it again. At least that's the way I run it on my system. Win 10. I have a lot of controllers with most of my USB slots full.
