I think this explains why everyone should try the ingame F40. I like the way Harris describes it: "Animal"... that's the same way I called it the during the first "ingame" runs. Kunos did a great job.

What were you using before?

Posted

An old logitech wingman ffb. Only has 2 pedals, so was having to use auto clutch.

Ah, you're going to enter in a new world then.

@manu, what time can you get around Silverstone in the Mp4 Gt3?

My current best is only 2:06.220, @6 seconds off the best i've read somebody's got! Slightly depressing, lol!

I've never tried seriously on that track with it: I made only few laps on Monza; probably this weekend I'm going to run some sessions.

I recommend to use this application: http://www.radiators-champ.com/test/RSRLiveTiming/Dev_Gergo/index.php : it's an app for AC that registers your lap (if it's valid) and insert it on the online DB.

These are the hotlaps for that combo:

http://www.radiators-champ.com/test/RSRLiveTiming/Dev_Gergo/index.php?page=rank&track=16&car=45&rank_type=all&tyre_type=all&controller_type=all&community=all&friends=all

But be aware that most of them are achieved working on the car setup, or by changing the air temperature (hotlappers are used to these tricks)

Your time is not so bad! :-)

I'm 176th then, lol! Lap was valid (penalties were on). I'll install that later on, thanks.

I've installed it, doesn't use my pb, but just banged in a time 2ths slower as a marker to get on the board. Aim to get into the 2:05's tonight :)

Are you already using the G25?

No not yet. Still waiting for it to arrive from a squadmate.

As I said before, this car needs the right setup (as the other GT3 and Formula cars): the default one is too much loose for Silverstone (that's plenty of fast turns)... that explains the big difference with the best pilots.

With the default setup it took me 30 minutes to get the correct lines since these cars do not allow mistakes as the street ones. I was literally sweating entering in every fast turn while, with the right setup, you can be much more aggressive.

I think that with +2 click on the rear wing you're going to turn more safely, but I think in this case the real key is the suspension setting.

If they ever add the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car I'll be in. I played that series on rFactor.

The closest you'll get is the RUF, Porsche signed an exclusive deal with EA some time ago so KS and many other sim developers have to take an alternative route like iRacing did and model the RUF. I believe KS did post some early 3d models on their Facebook page

Or you're just looking in the wrong places....again

Raaaid, most of the time people race in home leagues or bigger tournaments that need personal registration.

The bad racers (rookies or morons) can be limited in a flight sim where you can foresee their intentions, but in a racing sims they are really going to annoy you and there's nothing you can do about it.

I don't know if you've ever tried iRacing, but I was shocked by the behaviour of those players. I did probably 3 races and only once I could end without damage: also I was scared to overtake those who were one lap down since they were totally unpredictable. A guy voluntarily slammed on my side (taking me out) during an oval race fighting for the first position: he wasn't a bad racer, he was just a f**king moron!

IMO this is the reason you find so few players on public servers.

Pick up racing is always going to be hit or miss, that's why iRacing appealed to so many. There are some idiots there but I'm sure you'll find as I did that as soon as you start rising through the license system in iRacing the numbers of idiots is significantly reduced and you get clean close racing. For those who complain about the cost its worth remembering that you're paying for the overall service, the structured racing series they organise, the statistics logging for hot laps, the servers for you to host your own races/leagues and also the protest system. If someone does wreck you in a race you can protest and providing you post the evidence to back up your claim iRacing do take action against people behaving badly as their 'sporting code' covers behaviour in the race, comms, forums etc.

Aside from that sites like Race2Play, RaceDepartment etc host leagues and hot lap competitions its just looking in the right places as I said.

Sure, I know that the licence system was going to make my life better: we already had a similar system 10 years ago in our NRacing national league and it worked well (4 groups, more than 100 pilots). We also had the radio and the streaming of the most important race of the week.

I could go ahead with my career but I don't like iRacing at all because of the tire model, so I left. Morons are no the reason nor is the monthly cost of the account: I know that server and the guys behind the organizations are not gratis; still I find awful to have pay for single tracks and racecars.

I never used the protest system: I'm used to speak/chat directly to the guy whom I am having the issue, to understand his reasons and I don't want to punish him for just a mistake. As I probably wasn't going to race with those guys again I simply didn't protest. I use this mindset in IL2 and other games too. "Sry" and "NP" are macros on my keyboard.

Nissan license is awesome news, there's so much good stuff in the pipeline, every other friday is like a mini christmas!

Haven't had much time for gaming these last few weeks due to work, but nearly all of my gaming time is in this at the moment, really like it a lot.

Finally got my hands on my new (to me) G25, taken me a couple of days to get used to it after using my old wheel for so long as i expected (along with changing my seat position, turned a landrover discovery seat into my new computer chair), but am now adjusting quite well.

Got a few more dangerdogz interested as well!

Still loving the challenge of hot lapping the Mp4 GT3 around silverstone, using it as a learning tool with regarding to understanding the setting up of the car, and how different things affect the car, since i am very familiar with this combo now.

Made a little vid of a hotlap shown 3 times, from in car with track ir (as driven), then chase view and then from the TV cameras view, I'm down into the (high) 2:03's now, as I type I'm sat 177th on the pro rankings of RSR live timings, still way of the alien fastest times!

looks best in 1080p

Ps @manu, pm me your steam id

Asetto Corsa is getting quite good.

I do think the AI needs some work, but while I wait I have been playing Game Stock Car 2013. Have any of you tried it?

Here's a video of a WIP track I am working on for GSC2013. I would like to port this over to AC when modding tools are readily available.

well after a while of testing im fed up with understeering, is like a knightmare you give full lock to the steering wheel and the car just doesnt turn any more, and like you cant setup suspensions in most cars...

even my real life car is not that understeery, its neutral, karts i tried are oversteery

and all to plz unskilled  pilots who want to boos their egos

Which car?

Anyway look at this video (start at 4:00)

Friday 2 of May, Multiplayer!

http://www.assettocorsa.net/one-week-delay-for-0-9/

The next update of Assetto Corsa Early Access will include the multiplayer mode and was previously scheduled for tomorrow’s release; our work in the last two months has been strongly focused to complete and deliver this feature properly. We have also made investments to set several free public servers for our users and a proper lobby for servers created by, users, leagues, simracing websites and so on. However, due to the 25th April celebration, we might have some issues to get the best possible support from our italian based server provider, right at launch day.

Multiplayer is one of the most awaited features for a lot of simracing enthusiasts, but in order to properly test in public the multiplayer mode, we need to get the best technical support possible; for this reason, and also in order to improve multiplayer functionalities and to develop some additional features, tomorrow’s release has been shifted to Friday 2nd, May. This delay will allow us to release the multiplayer in a working day, getting fast and proper support by our provider, if needed. We are pretty sure you understand that we are working at our best to provide the best gaming experience we can. Thank you for your kind support and attention.

Finally MP is working (in Alpha mode).

At the moment there're more than 400 servers on AC Lobby: most of them are password protected. In AC forum you can find the instructions to host a dedicated server.

If any of you would like to run some lap together just write here or send me a PM so with can arrange a race.  ;)

Whereabouts is the server located Jedders?

In the Netherlands. Mind you, we have U.S. members getting a ping of 100ms to it, so it is a great connection.

Its the same box we use for our RoF server and will be running our BoS server eventually aswell.

Oh, and one last thing, we run a Red Orchestra 2 night on a Tuesday too. Details and pass for that on our forum (link below)

Tonight I'll try to run some laps there Jedders.  ;)
