When they told us about this in a DD, I remember reading on other forums people saying rude things about the devs because they'd added the barking dogs sound.  This was back in the early dark days, when some of our fellow simmers seemed so... antagonistic towards this sim.

I thought then, and I think now, it's a cool little effect. I've never heard them myself, but - honestly - what could possibly have been the harm?   It's great that these details are there.

I think that's the early access for the upcoming title. Il2: Night of the living dead

Crash in Stalingrad itself, you can hear small arms fire everywhere.

If only there were infantry, then the battle would be alive.

A fully "alive" battle of Stalingrad would probably only be possible with frames per second less than 1.

Yeah...I ran into an easter egg too.  Badly injured on the runway I was starting to pass out.

I could here my pilot whispering as he gasped for breath....

"Nadia...Nadia....is that you?"

At time most people upset against dogs barking are because they think  the "resources" used in this should be used to fix the "sound bubble" (that still issue today) that prevents they hear hits sound with their high end phones/sound cards.  :)

A similar mindset like the actual "don't waste making tanks, make a flyable (and useless) Ju-52..."

They sound like the sort of people who have never even seen a frown, and have never heard of the Middle East. People who complain about harmless video game easter eggs should get a re-education

Not an Easter Egg. It's a regular part of the sound effects for villages.

I remember that too.  I took some screenshots of those comments back in the day and might post them sometime for fun.  You'd be surprised who some of them are.

I'd like to see that. I wasn't around quite in time for that; I started checking the game out around the Steam Beta period.

You guys love some drama, eh?

I think this is a 777 signature feature - those who were there during the Rise of Flight release remember how much effort people put into trying to make it sink, spreading all kind of nonsense about it. Eventually the videos and screenshots spoke louder and it is where it is now, and it looks like BoS is going the same way.

the problem with RoF was that the former dev NEOQB was doing a terrible job with RoF, it wasn't till 777 took over

that RoF started to go in the right direction

I was just in multiplayer and my engine was out so I did not have to hear that noise. I was close to an enemy train so I glided past it. As I did I could hear the sound of the steam engine. Nice touch!

If Janes WWII Fighters could do it in 1997, I'm sure it can be possible in this game. DCS and even War Thunder can have infantry.

An infantry unit here and there is absolutely no different than an artillery piece or tank.

There were over 250,000 soldiers in the German 6th Army.  Fully alive for now means tanks, armored cars, halftracks, trucks and some AI aircraft.  Even that can be overwhelming for MP servers.  A "fully alive" infantry battle would crush a server.

So they haven't done it because they're stupid?  Or because you're wrong about how easy it would be?

I LOVE THE BARKING DOGS! - that's how i know where FERN is...

.

you can also hear them if you fly low enough over one of the mission objectives (with bldgs) with your canopy open, or you can hear them if FERN is around.

I do not remember I read that among people who do not like tanks

to add more, useless or useful is a matter of taste.

Like some people, I am not interested in tanks, but I think it would be a great experiment.

Like people who do not want to fly the ju52 but they give their support to dev team doing that.

I do not like tanks, but I am not alone and I think about people who like tanks.

Isn't a question of good manners?

to talk about the topic

Barking dog is a nice addition I heard them thanks to the free view.

I love that the dev team are putting effort for little sweet details like this!
