would this game support any usb joystick?

such as an old atari style joystick or gamer pad of such.. but a modern day usb joystick mainly for head movement .

such as looking/views and move head to the side/ backwards/ forwards and up and down

currently i use a track ball for views,  which works well but, if slow and hard to manouver gently. i'm now looking for something more, extra buttons for views and head movement currently i use the arrow keys for moving my head up and down left /right  and the page up up/ page down for leaning forward and backwards

this all costs me time and hassle and when in a heated moment during combat seems to be a little bit slow on my part to react..all the moving towards the keyboard looking for the button and or feeling for the right arrow key to press while zooming in with my other products just costs me to much time and i begin to make mistakes

if i have a usb gamer joystick thats based on old school layout with the large and easy to press buttons and the lights and axis joystick part my hand would be free of the key board there would be no need for me to physicly move forward press the keys and look for them i would only need to use the large control options with the big buttons and use the joystick parts for moving my pilot  around.

i could stick it verticle to my wall beside me at head height with some proper industrial tape or screw it to the wall

this in theory would give me a touching way of using the head movemnet without useing my eyes to be able to manouver my pilot with a better solution than currently pressing my arrow keys to move the pilots head

zooming in and out is an issue with that though also, if press left on the usb stick to move left in the cockpit would that register as an axis or would it be maybe digital as on  or off, one or zero, left a bit or variable left a bit, what i mean is would it detect an axis or would it detect a movement left once then maybe need to press again to move even more left  in a  digital way of looking at it and performing

plus its cheap heres a pic below to one i may use if the game can allow it im using windows xp see image below for the old school usb joystick and buttons

simply use my left hand to throw my pilot around the cockpit.and stick with my track ball to pan around with me eyes .zoom may be an issue but lets talk

If Windows can detect it as a joystick I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Pretty sure there are setting in game where you can adjust the speed of track ball (mouse) reaction, and if your track ball mouse has scroll wheel you can use that for zoom

Just a thought
