RainMan Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Question: How often do I have to refly this mission before I can progress in the campaign tree? The mission is to block a Russian airfield from launching fighters that would attack a German bomb raid. Every time I land back at Tusov airfield, the mission is complete, I get 100%, but I cannot progress to the next campaign mission, as only the Tusov airfield is selectable, and the story-driven briefing is always for the same mission I've flown about 5x now. Am I doing something wrong?
Cybermat47 Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 There's only one story mission for each side per campaign, sadly. You'll have to fly the standard missions to progress to the next campaign, and therefore the next story mission for your side. Also, the story missions aren't linked. Each story mission has you playing as a different pilot in a different squadron. 1
3instein Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 I haven't played the German side in the campaign yet, but he is saying he got 100%, so surely the other airfields should open up in that campaign block, it does for the Russian side anyway. Mick. 1
RainMan Posted November 11, 2015 Author Posted November 11, 2015 Thanks guys. Just to understand this correctly - Once done with the first story-driven campaign mission, I will have to pick any other non-story-driven mission on my side (German) to continue? There are plenty of German airfields to choose from, however, only one that has that little crosshair symbol with it, which I assume is the "story mode" one. Having said that, when will the next story mode mission unlock when I keep doing these non-story-driven ones (those that let me pick my own plane)? Thanks.

Yes, you need to do non-story missions to continue. The next story mission is part of the next campaign chapter, so you have to unlock that to continue. 1
Zjahna Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 I must say that although 1 story mission is a bit weak I am really enjoying the new campaign, perhaps it is the summer maps or missions also slightly more varied. The other player built campaigns are also excellent if you are looking for more content in this manner, Cheers, Zj
Trooper117 Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 The reason I'm playing the campaign at all is because of the summer maps... that's it. You still get the same repetitive mission types over and over and over... On occasion I will see something I haven't seen before, (like a ground crewman walking over to meet me as I taxi in) and I think, ''that's nice'', but most of the time it's same old stuff.

Once you have done the "vanilla" campaign, I can recommend the PWCG in this thread: http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/18671-pwcg-bos-beta-3-available-testing/ It's a fine piece of software already and Patrick is finetuning it constantly.
Trooper117 Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 I've used PWCG with RoF for years... but I'll not use this version until Pat releases a more or less finished version.
