Guest deleted@50488 Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 There simply is no other flightsim where winds and turbulence are so nicely and plausibly modelled like in IL-2 BoS / BoM! After a "difficult" mission at one of the servers, where I didn't even guess where my shooters were coming from, I decidedto go flying circuits under bad weather, rainy and windy Summer weather. The QMB generated a few for me with the wind component near ground almost 90º from the right, and turbulence of 4m/s :-) Whow!!! Simply unique! Nothing compares to this, even with the best weather injectors in FSX / P3D, DCS with the winds and turbulences set to the higher values. There's simply a vastly more immersive feel when flying trough rough weather in BoS. The rain effects in Summer / Autumn also looks great!
NN_RugbyGoth Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 The only thing that I miss in those conditions are droplets on the canopy...
pilotpierre Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Droplets dont last on canopies while flying.

Guest deleted@50488 Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 The mission I was talking about had superb cloud cover. The skies were actually covered with cloud streets, something I know and use a lot IRL flying ( gliders ). It's mazing how those cloud streets are actually represented in the sim, and they made sense because there was wind in the mission ( of course I didn't check it was rotating 90º in altitude to explain the cloud streets as IRL, which I doubt is actually being accounted for, but anyway, it was simply astounding... ) I would just like to be able to set surface temperature in the QMB too to simulate, for instance, really hot Summer days.
ShamrockOneFive Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 As an avid weather watcher I simply love the weather system modelling that they have done in this sim. It may not be true weather modelling but I don't think that's as important as they have done the practical effects on the aircraft. The turbulence, the winds shifting and getting stronger, and I love the way if all looks. The cloud decks and the rain is excellent. The snow effect is maybe the least convincing... But on the whole it's great!

BlueHeron Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 I especially appreciate the modelling of turbulence since I have the Buttkicker. I never noticed any sound associated with turbulence before, but with the BK you can feel a subtle bouncing when you pass through clouds. Very nice!

Bando Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 That was a nice recording on how to make your own. How does one go about connecting it to the PC?
Potenz Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 That was a nice recording on how to make your own. How does one go about connecting it to the PC? you need a small amplifier and you have to connect it to the woofer jack
