Uriah Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 I was flying online in Wings of Liberty (full sim level) or whatever it was called and was trying to find where I should fly too. Ever now and then a text message would pop up saying so to such and such square. I would bring up the in game map and I could not read the numbers. Is there a way of zooming in enough to read the numbers on the map?
unreasonable Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 If you are using the "O" map - ie the briefing map (which is much better looking than the strange HUD map) you can zoom in on it using the mouse scroll wheel, at least in my set up. Fairly sure I did not reprogram that. If I did it means there must be a key setting under control responses, so definitely this can be done. Not sure about in-HUD map as I do not use it - in RoF this was zoomed in the same way, but it only worked when you had right clicked first to enable the options icons to come up.
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Yes it would be nice to have bigger and black grids numbers.
unreasonable Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 The printer is a marvelous thing. The confidence of youth perhaps? If I am wearing my glasses for distance viewing I cannot read print right in front of me. If I take them off to read I can no longer see detail on the screen. It is a very good idea for most people, but sadly does not work for many of us who need prescription lenses.
Willy__ Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Guys you can zoom in and out with the mouse scroll wheel. There, problem solved, why make all this fuss about it ?
Sokol1 Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 (edited) Maybe because he are using the "AWACS RADAR screen" (M) and not the "Map" (O) - the first don't allow zoom, or are not aware that can zoom in the second... Edited November 9, 2015 by Sokol1

You cant open the "m" map on WoL, only the bigger one "o" because of the server settings.
JG300_Olrik Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 It would be nice to have bigger numbers ; it would be better if they had a fixed size, not depending of the zoom. They would be readable whatever the used scale. 1
Y-29.Silky Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Guys you can zoom in and out with the mouse scroll wheel. There, problem solved, why make all this fuss about it ? Because zooming in during flight is a pain in the arse. Especially if you're trying to hold a formation. Usually I have to let of go my joystick. The numbers would be easier to read if they were even just a little darker. Speaking of these grids, I know they're necessary, but I hate them, they give me tunnel vision. People say they're at 329.3 instead of saying "South of Beketovka."
[DBS]El_Marta Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 (edited) 49 years of age here. Yes they are to small. It would be great if their size relative to the grid was bigger when in the zoomed out view. When you zoom in they should stay the same size. In short: display the grid number always at the same readable for the elderly size independent of zoom level. Edited November 9, 2015 by [DBS]El_Marta
SharpeXB Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 (edited) I got these multi-focal contact lenses Acuvue Moist, which are just incredible. They work to allow you to see both up close and at distance. Just amazing. They're not bifocal, they somehow have both lenses in them. A total game changer. Edited November 9, 2015 by SharpeXB
[CPT]Pike*HarryM Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 I need something like that. 49 too, and the old mark 1 eyeball isn't what it used to be...

Yes but you can re-write the numbers on a printed map bigger than they originally appear.
-TBC-AeroAce Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 lets be honest. Having a paper map is good and nice for zero icon maps but that is not the solution! What I want is the ability to customise all gui aspects to some degree. Target Icon size, Target ID, Target Color, Map Text size..... until we get this these we are kinda limited
unreasonable Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Yes but you can re-write the numbers on a printed map bigger than they originally appear. I still cannot make out the details of the map though, so I am not sure what the point of that would be... try looking at a map with a set of spectacles with a strong prescription (as I assume your vision is unimpeded): you will see what I mean. Trust me, I have tried printed maps for BoS, and it was a non-starter. The ideal solution was already implemented in RoF with its re-sizable, re-positionable in game map that was the same map as the briefing map. Why they changed a feature that worked perfectly I have no idea.
SharpeXB Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 (edited) Isn't there an iPad map out there for BoS somewhere? There's this http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/13908-map-stalingrad-web-browser/?do=findComment&comment=219481 Edited November 10, 2015 by SharpeXB
Y-29.Silky Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 If only Wings of Liberty took out the AWACS (I know you can press 'i" and be at a disadvantage to everyone else, but that's beside the point) tracking, these number grids wouldn't be such a big deal.
