Australasia - Online Players

The Australasian flight sim community appears to be a rather small world and il2 BOS a small sliver of that!  Is it so many good titles (DCS, War Thunder, CLoD) competing for a small market, or too many squads with a few members, or general lethargy for online participation!  Wondering how many BOS players out there from Oz, NZ, Oceania?

I am and yes, it is dead during our evening hours. You're lucky to find a server in any sim with 3-5 people in it. Complete waste of time so I don't bother very often and I assume many others feel the same.

I was online most nights over the last few months but real life is starting to catch up on me, meaning less time online.

Being a few hours time difference in West OZ and only able to get on late after 10pm (UTC+8) means I don't see many Australians online.

 

Works in my favour in some ways though as the WOL server really starts to pick up on numbers then as some of Russia gets off work.

Most of the Australian squads I used to fly with/against in IL2:FB seem to be non-existent now - which is a shame as IL2:BOS is getting better and better.

The RAAF Boys are still around, namely Smouch, Toumba, Steppie, Roodster, yours truly and sometimes Mini.  We split our time between a number of Sims so we are usually dispersed.  We are gaining more and more interest of late in BoS and watching development with much interest.

A Kiwi here; I'd be keen on a Saturday evening gig, roughly in the 1700-2100 time frame Oz East time. I don't mind what I fly (or drive - tanks); flying alone in multi-player is a bit of a dry experience.

Couple of us are aiming to join Coconut's Server each Wednesday evening 2030 hrs AEST.

Given our small numbers this has a lot of advantages re number of targets (AI and human) versus WOL.

Coconut always puts on a good show.

Cursor Keys - Movement (the game automatically translates these simple direction commands to pushing pedals, switching friction clutches and changing gears).
RAlt-C - Close/open hatch (riding with open hatches is obviously more dangerous).
LCtrl-C - Switch to gunner and back to driver seat.
RAlt-G - Switch ammunition: Armour Piercing / High Explosive / Machine Gun.
Ralt ; Ralt . - Adjust gunsight verticaly (range)
Ralt , Ralt / - Adjust gunsight horizontaly vertical (only on T-34)
Mouse Wheel or LShift - Mouse Wheel - Zoom in or out
T - Centralise turret/gun

Certainly hit and miss re getting AUS/NZ flyers together!

But, Friday and Sunday evenings seem to be the best time at the moment.

Mainly flying Red on WOL, official BOS TS.

Both Steppie and Smouch smsed me last night as we were flying to say they won't be on but I was too busy dodging 20mm shells erupting from the nose of MrX's 109 to notice my phone buzz. Had a great night once again, I've got the flying bug once again after 18 months respite... Thanks to Dave, Felix and Radial for being so infectious.

I spent most of Saturday/sunday online (the Mrs wasn't too happy). Have bumped into quite a few folks I see on these here forums (unfortunately the player base is that small). I did see Mr X copping a bit for being a cheat. He did shoot me down but just after but it looked like pretty good shooting to me (I was in a PE-2).

 

Anyway, hope to see more of you online. I'm trying my best to get my squad mates from TOG onboard (and AEF, but I think Felix is from AEF)
