Weegie Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 A lot of you guys will know all about it, but I just found out about it very recently. So I bought it, all $8 worth. Its really good. My plans for it are to use it for all the order and gesture commands & stuff I don't want to clutter my joystick and throttle with like various views, pausing the game, recording etc: http://www.voiceattack.com/Default.aspx Just thought I'd put it up here for those that are unaware of it
74_jim_nihilist Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 It rules so very hard. I am an Offline/SP-kind of guy and use it for all simulations,, all IL2 iterations, Silent Hunter, Elite...etc. pp.
Bando Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Me too. Especially in Elite Dangerous I use it very frequent. It takes some time (not much) to set it up, but it's very good. For now in BOS I use it for the flight commands (Attack, RTB, Formations etc) and for the arming of bombs and the settings of the weapons.
-TBC-AeroAce Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 (edited) I just got it after seeing this post!!! Set it up for all my gunner commands, map and bomb sight and its very good!!! Shame the gunners dont talk back most of the time lo0l Also thanks for giving me yet one more program I have to start for BOS NOW xx Edited November 6, 2015 by [TBC]AeroACE 1
Charlo-VR Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 I rely on Voice Attack extensively in Star Citizen, and I use a personalized version of Anna at https://forums.robertsspaceindustries.com/discussion/153203/updated-voiceattack-profile-anna-fully-state-aware-control-everything-with-your-voice/p1 I enjoy saying "Leroy Jenkins" to set my Super Hornet into combat mode. I rely on cheat sheets hanging from both sides of my monitor to remember all my controller settings in BoS, RoF, and X-Plane, so I plan to use Voice Attack in those, too, after the Oculus Rift or something better comes out at a high enough resolution.

Klaue Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 S! Well here is one i been looking at. http://www.roccat.org/en-US/Products/Gaming-Software/Power-Grid/Home/
dburne Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 I just ordered my first true headset on Friday, going to be here on Monday. I was just checking that Voice Attack thing out yesterday, definitely going to give it a try once I get my headset in and operating.

Weegie Posted November 7, 2015 Author Posted November 7, 2015 S! Well here is one i been looking at. http://www.roccat.org/en-US/Products/Gaming-Software/Power-Grid/Home/ Klaue, unfortunately I'm of an age where I don't posses (SHOCK!!! ) a mobile phone, but thanks anyway the thought is appreciated. I just ordered my first true headset on Friday, going to be here on Monday. I was just checking that Voice Attack thing out yesterday, definitely going to give it a try once I get my headset in and operating. I'm running Win 7 64bit & it works an absolute treat. I ran the training software 3 times and now when I state a command it executes pretty much flawlessly. At $8 its a steal IMHO. The thing that's impressed me is it can be used for all the commands I'd never get around to mapping, like gunners and comms to AI etc: DCS actually have some modules already set for various aircraft, which can be found in the downloads/user files sections too, VAICOM I think its called. I've downloaded them but not got around to trying them out yet.

Yeah I am currently spending most of my flight simming time in DCS learning some of the modules, that is where I saw the info on Voice Attack. Really looking forward to getting this new headset and giving it a try. Thanks,
Potenz Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 I use it very cool software, set it mine in german for better inmersion
dburne Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 (edited) When I ordered the headset, I was like do I really need a mic, as I really don't do multiplayer? But then I thought might as well, may want to get into MP someday and so will have it if needed. Then I ran across Voice Attack, and me being a SP guy was like - oh yeah, so glad I got a headset with a mic now lol. Really looking forward to giving it a try. Edited November 7, 2015 by dburne
Weegie Posted November 7, 2015 Author Posted November 7, 2015 I came across ModMic a while back, which I thought looked quite cool too, for those who only have headphones but want to add a microphone https://www.youtube.com/embed/RPFW8Ga2qqU?modestbranding=1&rel=0&&hd=1&title=&autoplay=1
Weegie Posted November 7, 2015 Author Posted November 7, 2015 I grabbed the help file off the website and converted to pdf if it helps anybody https://www.dropbox.com/s/qjyz42lqi1ivv0k/VoiceAttackHelp.pdf?dl=0
BazzaLB Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 I bought Voice Attack for use in Elite: Dangerous. I was surprised just how flawlessly it recognized what I was saying even with quite a range of emotive inflection in my voice. It was quite immersive having it respond in a female computer voice for Elite. I use PowerGrid too. Haven't setup VA for BoS, but I am using powerGrid. Had fun setting up colored icons for ease of quick recognition of button function. Its quite frustrating when you forget to startup one of the 3rd party tools (TrackIR, VA, PowerGrid) and only realise after takeoff
-Roy-Cheesy-Chops Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 so if i get this right i can talk into my microphone and call out rear gunner commands and this third party softwear it will understand the way i speak and with give the rear gunner the orders to do there job causing no need to press any buttons on my keyboard for the rear gunner commands to work and then fire on the enemy im on windows xp is this app supported on it? for example if i say rtb or return to base it will give the wing men the command to do so or shoot at ground targets or .return to our mission or patrol for air targets this third part softwear will understand me speaking and give them the orders in game or do i say "five" and only that word i assign the word five to return to base or can i say return to base and it will understand and give the order even say drop bombs and it will drop a bomb when i speak . cheers
Weegie Posted November 11, 2015 Author Posted November 11, 2015 Yes you have it pretty much correct It does support XP but I believe you may need to download additional components to get it to work, I have not tried it with XP, so I'm only going by what the website tells me. Any action that is a keystroke or series of keystrokes can be programmed, for voice activation. So you use the software to set up the keystrokes you want activated on that command and then tell voice attack what word you are going to say to activate it. At $8 its a steal IMHO. You can download a free trial version to check first if it will work for you and then if you are happy with the results you can purchase the software. I use headphones and a headphone microphone, if you have headphones but no microphone then Modmic looks like a good alternative to add a microphone, see post 15. There are many You Tube videos showing it in action and how to set it up. Google is your friend (sometimes).
