J4SCrisZeri Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Hello, I've been flying for hours over the rivers around Stalingrad, NEVER seen a vessel, ship, boat, anything! Is there a particular area where they are located? I'd love to sink one with my 37mm Stuka! Second question and quite off-topic: Can BoS/BoM save jpg screenies too? Any setting I should know?
Sokol1 Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Here: http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/19022-how-find-ships-1104/
J4SCrisZeri Posted November 6, 2015 Author Posted November 6, 2015 Here: http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/19022-how-find-ships-1104/ Owwwww, I think I semi-figured that out. I mean I tried investigating the ground targets list, but maybe I was in the wrong map/season situation Thank you very much! and... about getting jpg screens from the game? any chances?
Fazer_Beam Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 (edited) Keep in mind that in Campaign, the Ju-87 attacking ships do not accept 37mm cannon in the selection screens, only bombs (do not know why...). So use the Quick Missions. About the screens, BoS saves screenshoots as .BMP in the main directory. Yo may then open them in Paint and "save as" .JPG. Else, it also save the same screenie in .PNG format under /bin/game folder. Choose your poison... Forgot it, the key is the standard windows screen taking key, "Print Screen" usually right to the F12 key. Oppure, "Stamp" in italiano. Fazer. Edited November 6, 2015 by Fazer_Beam
migmadmarine Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Attacking ships in campaign, would that be a bombing or ground attack mission type? Been wanting to get one of these missions, but haven't yet.

Sokol1 Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 the Ju-87 attacking ships do not accept 37mm cannon in the selection screens, only bombs (do not know why...). Maybe because Bk-37mm are fantasy in Stalingrad... But, is OK against small ships.

That's fine, quick mission or editor is my usual way, never played a campaign in any flightsim Am I wrong, or we get only 2 ships? I haven't explore dthat much, hope I'm missing something. Anyway yeah, the 37mm cannon screws them big time, ouch. And the 1800kgs bomb is fun. About the screenshots, looks like I'll have to setup some batch conversion job in Photoshop, sooner or later. Got tons of nice screenies. Thank you all guys.
Feathered_IV Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 In RoF the ships could sometimes be found in the area of Reims at around 3000ft.
Fazer_Beam Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 I think there are three ship models. A weaponless barge (try checking ships and unchecking antiaircraft in quick mission), a small gunship with a front tank turret and Katyusha on the back, and a sort of steamer (side wheels) gunship. I also spotted a rare Landship: Fazer. 1
Rjel Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 If you have AA selected as a target I think the barges are armed. I seem to recall seeing one with gunners on it.
Tyberan Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 I havent seen the barges yet. Only the armoured boat and the paddle boat. The paddle boat does not like HE 37mm stuka
Willy__ Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 The paddle boat does not like HE 37mm stuka Neither does the larger barges...
Asgar Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 i think the barges are easier to destroy when carrying AAA. I think the explosion of AAA guns on deck can cause the barge to be destroyed. (At least that's my experience)
Willy__ Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 Just aim for the rear part of the barges and 4-5 hits of HE 37mm of the stukas will blow it up.
Asgar Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 sry, i was talking about normal 20mms, should've specified that
migmadmarine Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 The Barges can be armed or unarmed, and the armored (T-34 1941 turret) gun boats can either have a Katusha rack or AA gun in the rear. Don't know if the paddle wheelers have any variations.

(At least that's my experience) I've sunk the gunboats with just the .50 cals on the P-40. I know. I know. It was really the secondary explosions from the deck mounted rockets. Still, it was very satisfying strafing them 'til they sunk.
Ace_Pilto Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 I don't know about you blokes but I tend to look for them on the water. 1

J4SCrisZeri Posted November 12, 2015 Author Posted November 12, 2015 a sort of steamer (side wheels) gunship. I always find this type. Two big ones, right in front of the city. Haven't seen anything different so far
