Asgar Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Yak-1 flaps cause tons of drag, stop perpetuating this falsehood. Just try flying the Yak flaps down once, and you'll see this is wrong. I honestly believe, that something is wrong with the way the Yaks flaps are modelled, but to say it doesn't cause a ton of drag is asenine. I've flow the Yak just 20 minutes ago...
MigSu Posted November 6, 2015 Author Posted November 6, 2015 You are right. In fact no excuse for Mc.202. But still my point is valid: Even the use of word balance should be banned by international law when talking about flight sim. It was not the case with those planes. ok, let's ask to devs
LLv24_Zami Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 ok, let's ask to devs Okay, now I don`t exactly know what you mean..
MigSu Posted November 7, 2015 Author Posted November 7, 2015 But still my point is valid: Even the use of word balance should be banned by international law when talking about flight sim. It was not the case with those planes. I don`t think anyone can say that those planes are extremely superior to the Soviet ones in BoS. ok, let's ask to devs Okay, now I don`t exactly know what you mean.. i mean, (if you can) talk to devs and ask them what they think about, what they do and why, and you'll see Regads
DD_Arthur Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 a) Add one more model for the reds, a model that were in the battles, affecting the just number but not the balance of power. Agree and that 'plane should be the Hurricane.
=38=Tatarenko Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Someone asked if I-16's were used at Stalingrad. The answer is yes, the PVO (rear area air defence) used them (and I-153) at Stalingrad and they did see combat and were mostly shot down in the Autumn period. AFAIK no frontal aviation armies used them any more in that area. They did quite well in the Kuban area but not at Stalingrad.
csThor Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 (edited) They did quite well in the Kuban area but not at Stalingrad. Stalingrad - at least until late October / early November 1942 - was a very specific case. The effects of the serious concentration of air power on the german side were pretty much multiplied by the gross difference in pilot experience and training. The soviets threw numbers into the battle, mostly ill-trained youngsters who were little more than cannon fodder, and on the german side you had an awesome concentration of highly experienced airmen, often with hundreds of missions in their logbook. It's little wonder that 8th VA was kept alive (even though barely) only by the constant stream of new aircraft and pilots. Edited November 7, 2015 by csThor
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 What about the Kuban situation though? I know that at least on a one-to-one basis 9 GIAD put up a great fight against JG52 there, but not much else on how the other units performed or the numbers involved. As an off-topic I'm sure many of you will appreciate, here is by far the best resource I have ever found on 55 IAP/16 GIAP. It's in Russian, but if you can't read it just throw it into Google Translate and enjoy: http://slavhistory.ru/article/a-194.html It contains all their combat statistics, the airbases and formations they were attached to and when from 1941 to 1951, the unit commanders, chiefs-of-staffs and commissars with dates, all the books written about it by 16 GIAP pilots and other sources, and finally a list of every single 16 GIAP pilot which scored an aerial victory, also indicating if they have received a HSU and how many.
MigSu Posted November 7, 2015 Author Posted November 7, 2015 a) Add one more model for the reds, a model that were in the battles, affecting the just number but not the balance of power. (Lagg3, and two Yaks models, that will do another perspective more realistic, but not superior) Agree and that 'plane should be the Hurricane. You got it. Actually, i think we all ready have that "soft fighter" in the red side, and is off course the Lagg3. That is exactly why i am expressing all of this. 2 very good vs 1 very good and the other not so. But another point, (for devs) is more planes, more work, and no pair number, that does not look well and off courseeee, all of that will never been seen with good faces for german planes pilots. regards
