So we are on the cusp of the Early Release

I am ready to pee myself with excitement.  Rarely do combat flight simmers get a game, even more rare when its any good.  We have an outstanding opportunity here to help shape this into what I believe will be a worthy successor to IL2.  Will it come out day one with alot missing and probably even more not working yes ... of course it will.  This team has shown me that they respond very methodically to both the game and their community ala RoF.  When it first came out I couldn't even play it,  but they patched and listened and now it is a great sim.  We will have a choice in the upcoming weeks,  will we act like the simmers that people portray us as ie grumpy, unsatisfied old men that constantly flame the developer at every turn... or are we going to grab this sim by the stick, bugs and all, and help turn it into what it should be  The IL2 community is very tight knit,  most of us have been blowing each other out of the skies for over a decade together,  tourneys campaigns ect, we know each others squadrons and the pilots in them.  This team is fully capable of creating the next step, it is we who need to embrace it and help it along.  Report the bugs professionally, criticize respectfully and praise what is working well.  If one is have an awful go at it, take a break sleep on it and think what is happening... dont just jump on immediately all frustrated and start slinging the F bomb of how you have been personally betrayed and that your family pets have died because of it.  I love the history in this time period and love these aircraft, this is my hobby and I truly would like to see this take us through another decade or two

The Knights of the Round Table, the Crusaders, all fall back into the past-not only distant but prosaic; these young men, going forth every morn to guard their native land and all that we stand for, holding in their hands these instruments of colossal and shattering power, of whom it may be said that

'Every morn brought forth a noble chance
And every chance brought forth a noble knight,'

deserve our gratitude, as do all the brave men who, in so many ways and on so many occasions, are ready, and continue ready to give life and all for their native land.

~Sir Winston Churchill. Reporting to the house of Commons, June 4th, 1940

Are we ready chaps???

Is it Tuesday yet?!

Well, at least I have a DvD of Doctor Who: The Tenth Planet, which I've been waiting for for five or six years... but it can only sate me for so long. Flying an unarmed LaGG-3 on a 500kmx50km map, is imperative...

Everyone has called in dead to work for next week correct? Wives have new cool crap to keep them occupied? (Neat new sandwich maker sounds right) Just some things to have on the ready for next week LOL. Kids have plenty of homework?

Don't go planning too long a trip - the 500 k part was a mistake; it's 50 x 50.

But yeah - one more weekend and we're (hopefully) there. So sweet.

@Stlkrash: "Neat new sandwich maker": Lol, good to see you planning ahead.

Got my expectations dialed well down. Contingency planning means it still might be a month away at most, and it will essentially be a tech demo. It's not the second coming yet, just a small miracle. ;)

That is surely the path to happiness.

But looking at the bigger picture I'm ready to pee myself like Klink.

I have planned a fight with my girlfriend Monday night and ask her for a three days break…

I am quite proud to have taken this decision, thus in order to think about how I can improve my behavior for the benefit of my couple…

I've had this whole week off. Boss insisted I needed a rest. I was all, no no, how about next week instead? And this and that. But my boss was like no way blud. So there's me yeah, all standing around aimless and that. Like some gypsy in the high street wot wears your mums slippers.

Standard. :(

For me, Jan 2013 (although its probably longer because some issue meant we had to re-reguster at the UBI forums) marked 10 years of my involvement in the IL2 universe and I am extremely proud to be part of this argumentative, passionate, needy, nerdy, knowledgeable, interested, interesting, informative, infuriating community!

I look forward to, at least, another 10 years …

+1-- F19 celebrates it's ten year's anniversary this year... I had been flying casually before, but it really took off in 2013 when I started our squadron.... I don't dare to try to count the hrs spent in IL2

it's not that bad, in my opinion. a predicted plot, ok, some epic action, visually beautiful in bluray. worth a couple hours of my time

Yes. This is not a great week to be a bit later than usual with the oh-so-regular updates.

Some of you chaps are hilarious with sick and twisted senses of humor. You'd fit right in with the typical fighter squadron.

If you have the right attitude, the early release and the process that follows will be a ton of fun. Go with the flow...
