vx111vx111swift Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 I noticed that there is no visible shaking when fireing guns. Especially with the 6 /50.s. If you watch video on fighter plane.s fireing you can see the shaking on film. I am more then sure 6 /50.s would shake an airplane quite a bit. 20 mm even more so. Anyone else notice this or do I have something turned off.......
FuriousMeow Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 (edited) There's already tons of cockpit shake from the engine itself. What videos? Gun cam footage? That doesn't mean the footage is showing the guns shaking the camera, although the camera is placed within a very close distance of the guns so they will naturally vibrate more, it just shows vibration in general. The gun camera only turns on when the weapons are being fired. Later in the war a switch, and in some cases a delay, was added to allow the camera to keep recording after the guns were finished firing and the same vibration remained when no weapons were firing. It would appear the vibration was simply present at all times within the fuselage. However, there was less impact on a pilot's vision. The human eyeballs and brain are also quite adept at washing out most vibration and shaking, otherwise every day's venture from the bed to the toilet would be chaos - not to mention the rest of the day like when you step into a vehicle, especially a Harley Davidson.
