It seems to me that wings of Bf109E are too weak. One or two short burst from Rata´s cannons and wing is shot off.

On the other hand Rata is very resistant to MG/FF cannons, mainly wings and tail. Against Lagg3 MG/FF cannons seems OK.

The Bf 109E7 has the same built-in risk as all other planes with wing mounted guns, that a hit might set off the ammunition stored in the wing and simply blow the wing off. That's why Fw 190s, IL-2s and now also all of the new fighters in BoM have greater risk of losing a wing to combat damage.

As for the I-16 being quite resilient to damage, I certainly don't find that to be the case. Overall the MG FF should feel less efective than the MG 151s used on the other german fighters because of 3 factors:

1. They're wing mounted, meaning that a larger proportion of the shots fired will miss their target, unless they're fired exactly at convergence distance.

2. The muzzle velocity is lower than the MG 151, meaning non-HE shells carry less energy and hit with less force.

3. The rate of fire is significantly lower, meaning fewer potential hits per second of fire.

Hmm still think that the wings of Emil are too weak. Its like old Bf109 before the dmg improvements. And its not too hard to break them if you pull too hard in the dive after one burst from rata. I lost wings even from ratas machine guns.

If you dont hit pilot or engine, rata is very resistant to Emils cannons. 4 or 5 cannon rounds and rata is like a new. Usually there are only holes in the root of the wings.

About 40% of my kills against Bf 109 E-7 are due to complete wing loss (on a side note, i've yet to notice a less than full-wing loss on a E-7 in flight). And that also happens against E-7s which don't have any cannon ammo left and if you run some comparisons with the F or G with gunpods (and thus ammo in the wing), you'll also notice no sudden complete wing loss on those planes, so it can't be because the ammo in the wing blows up. The ammo drum of the MG FF is pretty small anyway.

So yes, i would say, that something is wrong with the E-7 damage model right now.

Can't say anything about the I-16, i rarely fly it or against it.
