JGr2/J5_Klugermann Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Recently purchased BoS and installed it on the same rig which houses RoF and Muromets. Can only get Bos to run without latency on 600x480 settings with FPS at 30, I have no issues with the other 2 games. Is BoS much more graphics intensive ? HP 8200 i7 processor 3.4 GHz 4MB ram AMD radeon vieo card 512 MB I'm suspecting the system may be a little underpowered to run this.
Fishbed64 Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Yes i guess you have core i7 2600 3,4ghz which is OK for BOS,but you need much better Graphics card, best solution that dosnt cost that much is Nvidia GTX960,avoid any AMD GPU they have much worse support in drivers and overall worse performance in flight sims.
Sandhill Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 BoS seems to be more CPU clock limited than GPU limited, and although 3.4GHz might not be ideal, that 512 Radeon card is probably killing you.
SharpeXB Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 (edited) The clock speed is not the only determiner of a CPUs performance. This list has been posted here a few time, but this is what you're looking for to rank them I'm no expert but it seems that overclocking is just a straight % add. Take the boost speed and factor it in i.e. 4.4GHz overclocked to 4.8GHz is a 9% increase. https://www.cpubenchmark.net/singleThread.html Edited November 3, 2015 by SharpeXB
Dakpilot Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 ^^ This is an important point, to many people who are unfamiliar with PC's (and we all were at some time ) It would be easy and make complete sense to assume one CPU with clock speed of 4.1 Ghz would out perform another with 3.4 Ghz especially when considering that BoS and most flight sims are dependant on single core/thread performance (albeit needed over multicores) However different generations of Intel CPU's cannot be directly compared purely by clockspeed alone Also it is not possible to directly compare an Intel to AMD CPU using that ( clockspeed/Ghz) factor I would also assume that your GPU's 512mb Vram is a major limiting issue in your setup, both the AMD5850 and GTX260 listed as minimum GPU in game hardware recommendations -- GPU: 1024 Mb+, were available with the above spec Cheers Dakpilot
JGr2/J5_Klugermann Posted November 3, 2015 Author Posted November 3, 2015 Thanks gents. I assumed that the 6350 was suitable based on the higher series number. Should have looked at the specs. Now I need to see what I can upgrade vs a new system.
