Mewt Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Hello, I'm in the process of re-building my pit and am getting back into playing IL2. I'm using a Warthog with a 200mm extension centrally mounted between my legs. The problem I've had with IL2 in the past is the flight model has felt incredibly 'slushy' and 'rubber-bandy' compared to other sims. Even with the extension. I assume this is simply down to the developers interpreting historical control movement and resistance differently than other sims. This is combatable via in-game sensitivity / s-curve setting - however what would be the recommended settings for my stick+extension? What do other players with extensions use? Many thanks.
Bando Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 I have the same stick and the same extension and I do not use any curve settings whatsoever. Flies like a dream. 1
andyw248 Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 No curves here either for my 15cm extension - need all the precision I can get with the large throw provided by the extension.
Sparviero_ITA Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 (edited) Hi When somebody say....Flies like a dream....on which model of the aircraft you are referring to? I am asking it because there is a huge different about nice feel fly between a BF_109F4 VS. YAK1. The last one it's a dream...but the frist one it's a nightmare,...the constant trim pitch and swings is a real frustration whit this aircraft...indifferently from any type of extensions that applied to the WARTHOG. The mine it's about 12 cm...but to fly whit the German planes it's so far to be an..intuitive flight! regard Edited November 24, 2015 by ITAF_Baracca
Bando Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 Well, I have no curve settings or so for any plane. All planes fly great in this setup. I realise some planes fly in their own character. In the case of the 109, I can fly her pretty good, as long as I stay fast and trimmed, but I guess that is the rule for all the aircraft. Especially the 109 is a handful, when she's out of trim and slow, so be carefull with these settings. It tends to happen in a dogfight. Do not turn with the Russian fighters, do not play their game. Stay fast.
Sparviero_ITA Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 (edited) It's hard explain mine feeling about German Fighters but......i have just one chance about engage a enemie target....to fly very high..that's all! The BF_109F4,for example, lose so much energy in a smooth 45 °turn (160-170 Kmh)...plus the stability it's so shaking and inusual.......specialy for a plane weight 2.400 Kg whit HP 1350....but anyway! Take or leave... Edited November 27, 2015 by ITAF_Baracca

When you say swing, around which axis is that? I'm asking because I find that the yaw axis (rudders) is generally very sensitive, so I use no curves at all for my warthog with 15cm, but I do use curves for my CHPro rudders, to tone down yaw axis sensitivity.
Sparviero_ITA Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 (edited) HI I am glad to know, that in this SIM, it's possible to feel a smooth and accurate control about all planes, so close to real world like.... the bearing capacity....the G effect....the behavior of an aircraft in relation to stability...and go on. And i am especially happy to see that finally the Developers have not made any personal interpretations of performance, and flight model, between the two factions....Especially if we talk about those bad guys of the Axes whit that cheaper planes!
