Sgt_Bitterroot Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 (edited) Hello all! I've a few questions regarding these two joysticks and hope someone can help me, which one I should choose! Currently, there's only the Rev. B available in Europe. Then there's also the "normal" one, which is sold out. Now, here are my questions: What's the actual difference between these two? Is it something technical/mechanical, because they look completely the same to me? Is one better than the other? And is it possible to modify the Rev. B.? On the website it says it's possible, but there are no links displayed like on the normal one. Thanks in advance! sgtbitterroot Edited November 2, 2015 by Sgt_Bitterroot
Dutch2 Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 RevB is also solt out. Better wait for new products see Jasons posting in the hardware sticky.
Sgt_Bitterroot Posted November 2, 2015 Author Posted November 2, 2015 Oh. Yesterday and today they still had some left. I know that they will release new sticks in Q4, but the problem is, that mine broke two days ago, and I want to play IL-2. Guess I've to wait until they release the new ones. Except someone who lives in Russia could send me one.
Sokol1 Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 (edited) Notice that this M5 joystick are not VKB brand - is Defender brand, but projected by VKB staff. Cobra M5 long way to "born" (2007-2011) history is there, but links for the Sukhoi forum are broken, since this (good) forum are now "dead". http://www.pvsm.ru/razrabotka/5297 Cobra M5 have 3 major revision: 1st - Release version (2011) with ATMEGA8 USB controller and VKB MaRS sensors in digital mode in X,Y axis- but the controller mc was considered obsolete at joystick release, due his low work frequency. 2nd - Released around middle 2012* with VKB Njoy32 USB controller and VKB MaRS sensors in digital mode in X,Y. Is the "gold" one. 3rd - Released at end of 2012/early 2013 with USB controller again based on ATMEGA8 and generic contactless sensor in analog mode in X,Y - this version is what you find to buy actually. His differential relative to others "entry-level" is the use of contacless sensor in X, Y axis (instead cheap potentiometers), despite unsophisticated like the previous, and the design/ergonomics, better than the Tm T.16000M the only other in this category to offer too contactless sensor in X, Y axis. But since VKB has announced a new line Gladiator for the end of this year, to be sold under his brand, with Njoy32 controllers, digital MaRS sensors in X, Y axis, better await. Sgt_Bitterroot Posted November 2, 2015 Author Posted November 2, 2015 (edited) Thanks for the answer! Guess I'll wait for the Gladiator line, even though this means I can't play IL-2 until Q4. Oh well, better buy one time good, not two times bad. Edited November 2, 2015 by Sgt_Bitterroot
