IRRE_Rolluptito Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 (edited) Hello there, I'm Rolluptito, a little pilot from France. I have some questions for you. Is there an ATAG-like server up currently on BOS? I'm a bit tired of "Wing of Liberty", as it seems more like War Thunder than flight-sim to me , and miss the MP gameplay of Cliffs of Dover (TF) on ATAG. I'd like to play this game fully, and I see the potential of it, but don't find a full realistic server. Is there any sever with: - No plots on map - Limited HUD - Complex engine management (the more I can have, the better) - No automatic radiators settings if not available on the real plane - No Pitch/rpm settings if not available on the real plane - No autopilot - Available plane depending on the -historical- battle would be good too (like no G2 and F4 but E7 instead for a summer stalingrad battle for exemple?) (Even if there's only 15 to 30 -serious on flying- pilots on it instead of 64 or 84, I would be glad!) Thank you for your answers pilots! Rolluptito Edited October 30, 2015 by rolluptito
Trinkof Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 (edited) Non, it was called syndicate, on Wings of Liberty, you see your plane on the map. And missions on WOL are rather short when server is full... I think I heard the team behind WOL was planning another server, wings of victory if I am not wrong, with fewer indications on maps. For rollupito : you can disable HUd and "technochat" in your options and hide everything. Edited October 30, 2015 by LAL_Trinkof
IRRE_Rolluptito Posted October 30, 2015 Author Posted October 30, 2015 Hi Mastiff, thank you for your answer. Well, actually I was saying the opposite. Please read my post again if you have a minute or two.
IRRE_Rolluptito Posted October 30, 2015 Author Posted October 30, 2015 Thanks Trinkof, interesting for the Wings of Victory thing, I'm going to follow that. Yep, I noticed that I can remove map infications, and most of the time I fly without them. But it's a real disadvantage since I'm playing against people with High-tech TomTom GPS in 1941.
von_Tom Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Does the question relate to game settings or gameplay as it refers to both? If it's game settings then probably not as the available settings are different. You can always, as has been pointed out, adjust your own settings to remove any screen assistance. It isn't a disadvantage provided you bear in mind that within a certain area of any airfield you will be visible on a map. Just stay away from those areas. If it's gameplay then WOL and other servers are exactly the same as ATAG i.e. some do the objectives, some fly around, some fly as a squad etc etc. In fact, WOL may be even more appropriate given their recent efforts (kudos to them I say) to introduce a more historical aspect by limiting available unlocks etc. von Tom
beepee Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 How about the TWB server, or New Wings Wargrounds? Are they not full realism?
IRRE_Rolluptito Posted October 30, 2015 Author Posted October 30, 2015 (edited) Von_Tom, The question relate to gameplay, yes. I just think it's weird to fly that way. Even if I turn off my map indications. The map system is so precise that bombers can precisely attack a truck within one pass and go home, without even navigating nor searching for the target a bit. And for me, the really fun part of a WW2 flight sim is to search/navigate/hide/... I even like to be a bit lost after 5 minutes of quick turn-fight, climb again, look at my compass, triangulate with the forest, towns, rivers that are arround... I can turn off the map indications, but it will take 2 minutes for me to do what a GPS-plugged player will do within 2 seconds without even looking outside the canopy nor the navigation instruments. Which is a HUGE disadvantage. I mean, if I wanted that I would play Jet-Fighter sim with high-tech radar and GPS assist. (And I do not like Jet-Fighter sim). I really understand that some players do not want to think a lot about navigation and searching for ground targets because they don't have time -or are a bit lazy-. But, I mean, it's the whole point for a WW2 sim (with "realistic" options at least!) to not have those features. My question is simple: I know the features exists, but is there a server with TRUE realistic settings? Or Wings of Liberty is the more realistic we have? Even if there's only 24 slots, it's not a problem for me. If the answer is no, then, I guess I should find a way to create a server -with "hardcore" settings-. Edited October 30, 2015 by rolluptito
71st_AH_Hooves Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Hate for this to be a Shameless Plug, But the TWB server is running exactly what you have requested, with limited unlocks, and historical objectives for the last 3 months +. Full real as BoS can get.
