AFAIK there has been no change. Have you checked if the "unlock modifications" box in your profile has been unchecked?

No, its server setting. Go to the WOL thread and complain there. Already loads of people telling their mind about it. I dont like it too. I really hope the admins there reconsider since lockign the loadouts (at least to this degree) is just plain BS.

Might be more polite to go to the WoL thread and discuss, (taking into account language barriers) rather than complain about  it and perhaps not call it BS, they seem to have there own valid reasons to have implemented it in this way, and after all it is their server provided for free that you are enjoying.

 

Or maybe it is correct to shout scream and threaten...perhaps I am just out of date with my attitudes

From what I interpreted, it's to balance BoS and BoM planes. You can either fly a e7 with removed headrest or fly the better f4 and cope with the headrest. I might be wrong !

I think it is less a balance thing than making the planes more historically accurate for each scenario. As I understand it anyway.
