There are two actions under ENGINE CONTROLS...

Automatic Radiator Control vs. Switch water radiator control mode: manual/auto

What is the difference in this game?

I am thinking that some planes actually had an manual or auto radiator control. I have no idea which ones.

But is 'Automatic Radiator Control' some kind of cheat only allowed off line or only on some servers?

No it is no cheat, because the Bf 109 had automatic radiatorflaps control, but you could also change into manual. When you do so in the game, you can see a small lever at the right side turn. And when you open or close in manually setting the radiatorflaps, this lever also turns. Most players here fly with automatic setting as far as I read in posts, but I prefer the manual setting, because the automatic setting has the flaps closed until a certain temperature is reached, then opens. With manual setting you are able to fly with open flaps to keep the temperatures down, so you have temperature reserves when you need it. When you get attacked you can make speed with closed flaps where the automatically flaps now open because the temperatures are allready high, which also brings the risk of hits into the radiators.

This option is for the people who plays with normal settings, where you have Automated Raditor, Throttle and Prop Pitch settings. If you're playing on a normal server, you can switch to manual/auto settings for all planes.

The other option is as Yogiflight explained, for 109 pilots, and it will work even on expert settings.

Yes learned about the E7 the worst way, and Summer doesn't forgive us, if we do not pay attention to the temps....
